WEEE Ireland, in conjunction with the German multinational family-owned discount supermarket Aldi will host free e-waste collection days across the eight major towns in Co. Tipperary, including Thurles, Roscrea, Nenagh, Cashel, Cahir, Carrick-on-Suir, Clonmel and Tipperary Town.
Co. Tipperary householders are being urged to bring their batteries, electrical, and electronic waste to a set of free collection days, to help Tipperary meet its national e-waste recycling targets for 2024.
WEEE Ireland dates for all collection venues together with Addresses and Eircodes are as follows:-
Tues 2nd April 2024 – CASHEL ALDI, Boherlough Street, Cashel, E25 YD58.

Remember: Anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled for free on the day, including old washing machines, TVs, toasters and kettles, electronic tools and toys, cables, IT equipment, mobile phones, remote controls, batteries, including farm fence batteries, and even watches.
In 2022, the equivalent of 216,157 tonnes of CO2 emissions were avoided by recycling e-waste through the WEEE Ireland Scheme as opposed to same being sent to landfill. Same is equivalent to the annual carbon consumption of some 4,323 hectares of trees.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death today, Sunday March 31st, of Ms Ursula Blackmore, Crohane, Ballingarry (South Riding), Thurles, Co.Tipperary.
In her 67th year and pre-deceased by her beloved father Mick, her mother Maura and baby sister Mary; Ms Blackmore passed away suddenly, yet peacefully while in the care of staff at Cahir Abbey Day Care Centre.
Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; her loving brothers Jim, John, and Tom, sisters Ann (Dublin) and Olive (Ballygar, Galway), sisters-in-law Deirdre, Margaret and Alison, brothers-in-law Sean and Peter, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces Hazel, Anna, Isabel, Gemma, Juliana, nephews Charlie, Sean, Colm, Michael, Simon, James, and Tommy, niece-in-law Karen, extended relatives, neighbours, friends and carers in Cahir Abbey / Day Centre

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Ms Blackmore will repose at O’Connell’s Funeral Home, No.1 Bóthar Lug, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary (E41 VX02) on tomorrow, Wednesday afternoon, April 5th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm same evening.
Her remains will be received into the Church of the Assumption, Ballingarry (SR), Thurles on Thursday afternoon, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 12:30pm, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in Lismolin Cemetery, Lismolin, Corbally More, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Three Palestine solidarity activists, from the Galway Palestine Solidarity Campaign were expected to appear at Nenagh District Court, North Co. Tipperary yesterday evening at 5:00pm, having been charged by Gardaí following a protest at Shannon Airport.
The three activists; two females and one male, all aged in their 30s, engaged in direct action they claimed, to mark ‘Land Day‘, on Saturday morning March 30th, and were arrested by Gardaí, when they attempted to block two US military planes.
All three approached the US military planes, waving a flag of Palestine and displaying a banner that stated: ‘US military out of Shannon’.
They were quickly arrested by Gardaí for public order offences, before being detained at a Garda Station in Co Clare.
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death today, Sunday 31st March 2024, of Mrs Maud Taylor (née Kingston), Renaghmore, Grange, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and late of Rooska, Bantry, Co. Cork.
Pre-deceased by her husband Davie; Mrs Taylor, sadly passed away unexpectedly at her place of residence.
Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son John, daughter-in-law Eunice, grandchildren Darin and Leanne, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Elsie, extended relatives, friends, neighbours and carers, especially Caroline and Sharon.
