New Clerical Appointments In Cashel / Emly Archdiocese

Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly has appointed four new Parish Priests (P.P.) in the Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly.  In total 14 new appointments have been made as part of diocesan changes, expected to come into effect as and from Saturday 12th August 2017.

Current Thurles Administrator (Adm.), Very Rev. Fr. Martin Hayes has been appointed Director for Pastoral Planning and Development for the Archdiocese.

Returning again to the Thurles Parish as P.P. will be Rev. Fr James Purcell, who will be joined by Rev. Fr Joe Walsh, latter who has been appointed as Chaplain to the new Mary Immaculate 3rd level College, on the former St. Patrick’s Campus, here in Thurles.

Other new appointments include:-  Rev. Fr. Tom Fogarty who has been appointed Parish Priest (P.P.) to Moycarkey, Littleton & Two-Mile-Borris; Rev. Fr. Celsus Tierney, Adm. Holycross & Ballycahill to be P.P. of Holycross & Ballycahill, replacing the late Fr Tom Breen, who passed away recently. Fr. Tierney has also been appointed as Diocesan Director for World Mission Ireland.

In other appointments, Fr. Gerard Hennessy Catholic Curate (C.C.) Thurles will move as P.P. of Borrisoleigh & Ileigh; Rev. Fr. Tomas O’Connell will move to the neighbouring parish of Loughmore as Adm., and Rev. Fr. Liam Everard will move to Fethard and Killusty as P.P..

Rev Fr. Joseph Tynan has been appointed Diocesan Director for Communications, while Fr. Dominic Meehan will become Diocesan Director for Trocaire, and Fr. Sean Fennelly, C.C. will become Adm. for Knockainey and Patrickswell.
