Death Of Micheál Gleeson, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Thursday 11th August, 2022, of Mr Micheál Gleeson, The Quarry, Mitchel Street, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Gleeson passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, while in the care of staff at the Community Hospital of the Assumption, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Séan and Kathleen, sister Áine (Coffey): the passing of Mr Gleeson is most deeply regretted by his devoted wife Tess, daughter Emily, sons Michael, David, Will, Séan and Conor, grandchildren Sadhbh, Ruadhán and Roddy, daughters-in-law Ciara, Lyn and Deirdre, brother Séan, sister Noreen (Sr. Mary), nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law Theresa and Sheila, extended relatives, good neighbours and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Gleeson will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Saturday, August 13th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
His body will be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Catheral Street, Thurles on Sunday morning, August 14th at 10:30am for to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am.
Interment will follow immediately afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of Mary Ryan, Mother Of Green Party Leader Mr Eamon Ryan.

Green Party leader Mr Eamon Ryan is in mourning following the news of the passing of his mother, Mrs Mary Ryan, “unexpectedly but peacefully“, while on holiday.

Mrs Ryan passed away following an accident while on holiday on Inisbofin Island, in the Aran Islands, latter situated off the coast of Co. Galway.

She was transported by air ambulance to Galway University Hospital, but alas sadly died on Tuesday evening last.

Her death notice sadly reads:-

RYAN (née Cahill) (Sandycove, Co. Dublin) August 9th, 2022 (unexpectedly but peacefully) Mary, beloved wife of the late Bob, loving mother of John, Eamon, Robert and Marion; Sadly missed by her children and their partners, her adored grandchildren Harriet, Lorcan, Séamus, Fintan, Isabella, Jack, Oliver, Ino, Tom, Róise, Sean and Harry, great-grandson George, her sisters-in-law, extended family, neighbours and friends

Removal Saturday (August 13th) from her home to St. Joseph’s Church, Glasthule arriving for 10:00am Requiem Mass, which can be viewed online on www.churchservices.tv/glasthule, followed by burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Sutton.

Two Areas Of Tipperary Impacted By Water Shortages.

Met Éireann yesterday issued a Status Yellow high temperature warning for, in particular, Leinster and Munster; same valid from midday today Wednesday and running until at least Sunday next, at 6:00am with temperatures forecast to soar from 22 degrees and up to 29 degrees (Celsius).

Two areas in Co. Tipperary are currently impacted by water shortages amid requests from Irish Water to conserve supplies over the coming weeks.

The two areas in Co. Tipperary impacted are Coalbrook, a village in the Slieveardagh Hills, situated 25.4km from Thurles, Co. Tipperary, and Kilcash, located 8 km east of Clonmel, in the south of the county‎.

Residents of the county are being asked to report any leaks to our public water network, by contacting Irish Water at any time on Tel: 1800 278 278 or online on the Irish Water website.

The farming community are being asked to check for leaks on outdoor taps or troughs, while the general public are being asked to bear in mind the high volumes of water needed for paddling pools or swimming pools and to please reuse all such water content for gardening or car washing.

Please also check on your elderly neighbours.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Tuesday, 9th August, 2022, of Mrs Mary Jo Stapleton (née O’Shea), Parkstown, Horse & Jockey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Ballinastick, Glengoole, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband Walter (Walzie), brothers Michael, John, Jimmy and Bríd; Mrs Stapleton passed away peacefully following a short illness, while in the care of staff at Aut Even Hopital, Kilkenny City, Co. Kilkenny.

Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving family; Robert, Brendan, Norma, Cyril, Vincent and Catherine, daughters-in-law April, Caroline, Martina and Mary, sons-in-law Paudie and Donal, grandchildren Cole, Sean, Gráinne, Ciarán, Aoife, Nicholas, Ruairi, Maria, Ben, Conor, Alanna and Meabh, brother Christy, brother-in-law Fintan, sisters-in-law Hillary, Rosemary and Christina, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Stapleton will repose at Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Thurles on tomorrow evening, Thursday, August 11th from 5:00pm, before being received into the Church of St. Peter, Moycarkey, Thurles, at 7.30pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning, August 12th, at 11:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in nearby Moycarkey Old Graveyard, Moycarkey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
