It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, on Friday 23rd September, 2022, of Mrs Breda Kelly, Littleton, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her father Jimmy; the passing of Mrs Kelly will be sadly missed by her loving family, her mother Eileen, daughter Lisa, son Brendan, sisters Sheila and Elaine, brothers Dickie and P.J., brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, dear friend Kevin, Dean and Orla, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Mrs Kelly will repose at Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Thurles, on tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, September 27th, from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m., before being received into the Church of Our Lady and St. Kevin, Littleton, Thurles, at 7:00p.m.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11:30a.m., followed immediately afterwards by interment in the adjoining graveyard.

Plan identifies 5 priority areas relating to rural safety and outlines key actions underway to ensure safety in rural Ireland.
At the Ploughing Championships in Co. Laois, on Wednesday morning last, September 21st, 2022, the Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Mr James Browne, took the oppertunity to launch the ‘Rural Safety Plan’.
This plan brings together and strengthens all of the various strands of work being carried out in relation to rural safety. In demonstrating and highlighting the collaborative efforts made by An Garda Síochána, other State bodies, the Rural Safety Forum, community groups, and supported by the Government, the plan seeks to enhance security in our rural areas and enforces the importance that is rightfully placed on the welfare of rural Irish communities.
The vision of the Rural Safety Plan is for people and communities in rural Ireland to feel safe and be safe in their homes, their places of work, and their local environments.
This plan identifies 5 main priorities in relation to rural safety, which are: –
- Community Safety.
- Burglary and Theft.
- Roads Policing.
- Animal Crime.
- Heritage Crime.
The plan outlines the key actions underway in these priority areas in an informative and accessible way and also provides useful contacts for partner organisations, groups committed to supporting victims of crime, and organisations that share the Department of Justice’s aim of advancing the safety of our people.
Speaking at the launch on Wednesday, Minister Browne said:-
“I am delighted to be publishing the Rural Safety Plan today.
People and communities in rural Ireland deserve to feel safe and be safe. I recognise that rural safety isn’t just about the number of Garda but is a total Government responsibility.
That is why the Rural Safety Plan is the result of strong collaboration and brings together all of the excellent work already underway in relation to rural safety.
I want to recognise the wide-ranging and impactful work to further people’s safety and welfare, that is being undertaken in rural communities across the country. Much of this work is undertaken by dedicated volunteers who admirably commit so much of their time to the benefit of our communities and our country.
I wish to thank An Garda Síochána for their input to the Plan, and the National Rural Safety Forum for their support”.
The product recalled is the Dunnes Stores, 4 Ready To Cook Southern Fried Chicken Fillets (Frozen); pack size: 500g, with best before date: March 1st 2024, and with the country of origin being the United Kingdom.
Dunnes Stores are recalling the above batch due to the presence of Salmonella. Point-of-sale recall notices are displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batch.
People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between 6 and 72 hours.
The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever, headache, and abdominal cramps.
The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have more severe illness.
Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batch.
For the first time ever, Ireland has crowned two world ploughing champions at this year’s world ploughing championships held in Ratheniska, Co. Laois.
The winners were announced, following a Gala Banquet, bringing the event to a close.
Mr Eamonn Tracey a resident of Co. Carlow won the Supreme World Conventional Ploughing Championship, while Wexford man, Mr John Whelan, won the Reversible Ploughing competition.
Both men are expected to represent Ireland at the World Ploughing contest next year, in 2023.
Amongst the various winners, North Tipperary was well represented with the 3 furrow conventional plough class – Junior, going to Mr Ciaran Milne, with 138 points.
In the U28 conventional junior plough class, Mr Ethan Harding, Tipperary North, took third place, with 93 points.
The event which returned for the first time in three years, following the Covid-19 epidemic; saw attendance figure for the 91st, 2022, National Ploughing Championships, reaching 277,000, over the three day period, with exhibitors and visitors alike totally declaring the event an outstanding success.
It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Friday 23rd September, 2022, of Mrs Noeleen Fogg (née Slattery), Bouladuff, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her brothers Liam and John; Mrs Fogg passed away, while in the care of staff at Milford Care Centre, Limerick.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her son Gavin, daughter Leona (O’Reilly), grandchildern Kaylagh, Sarah, Scott and Emily, son-in-law Neilus, daughter-in-law Catherine, sister Marian (Fitzgearld), brothers Andy, Thomas, Seamus and Paddy, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Fogg will repose at Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, on tomorrow evening, Sunday September 25th, from 5:30pm with removal at 7:00pm to be received into the Church of Saint Laurence O’Toole, Monroe, Bouladuff (The Ragg), Thurles.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11:30am, followed by interment in nearby St. Michael’s Cemetery, Bouladuff, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
