Death Of Tommy Sheridan, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death yesterday, Sunday 19th February 2023, of Mr Thomas (Tommy) Sheridan, Parkstown, Horse & Jockey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, and late of Cavanfin, Crossdoney, Co. Cavan.

Pre-deceased by his parents William and Katie, sisters Margaret, Bridget and Mary and his brother John; Mr Sheridan passed away while in the care of staff at South Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, extended relatives, neighbours and good friends in Parkstown and Horse & Jockey.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Sheridan will be received into the Church of St. Felim, Ballinagh Road, Ballanagh, Co. Cavan, on Wednesday evening, February 22nd at 7:00pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning, February 23rd at 11:00am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in the adjoining graveyard.

Death Of Catherine Harvey, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Wednesday last 15th February 2023, of Mrs Mary Catherine Harvey (née Barron), No.59 Vena Avenue Gorokan, New South Wales, 2263 Australia, and formerly of Ballingarry (South Riding), Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her son Ben and her parents Michael and Mary Barron; Mrs Harvey passed away peacefully, following a short illness.

Her passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving husband Mike, her son Luke, sisters Fionnula, Carmel and Angela, brothers Tony and Billy, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The remains of Mrs Harvey will be interred at Palmdale Lawn Cemetery and Memorial Park, Palmdale Road, NSW 2258, Australia on Tuesday next, February 23rd, at 11:00am [Australia time].

‘Banshees Of Inisherin’ Star Kerry Condon Wins Best Supporting Actress.

The Banshees of Inisherin Star, Thurles native and natural beauty, Ms Kerry Condon this evening, as expected, won a Bafta award for ‘Best Supporting Actress’. (After an unaired gaffe, which saw the wrong winner of the award being announced).

Thurles born and natural beauty, Ms Kerry Condon.

In accepting the award, Ms Condon thanked Director Martin McDonagh for giving her the part, and for all the parts he gave her throughout her career. “You make me so proud to be an Irish woman”, she added.

Barry Keoghan, won best supporting actor, and dedicated his award to the kids from the area that he came from, “who are dreaming to be something”.

Mr Martin McDonagh won original screenplay for “The Banshees Of Inisherin”, making it three wins in total for this dark comedy film.
Receiving his award, Mr McDonagh, thanked Bafta; his fellow nominees; his production company and all those who performed in the film.

“Ms Condon, you make Thurles; County Tipperary and Ireland so proud”.

Gardaí Name Woman Who Died In Tipperary House Fire.

The elderly female who sadly lost her life in a house fire in Tipperary Town, Co Tipperary, on Thursday morning last, February 16th, has been named by Gardaí.

Mrs Patricia (Patsy) Goodall, (née O’ Donnell) aged in her 74th year, died in a fire at a single-storey house; same situated south of the town, close to the N24, at Pearse Park, (Páirc an Phiarsaigh).

Neighbours, prior to the arrival of local fire services, attempted to fight the blaze, however, Mrs Goodall was later pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post mortem examination will take place.

Pre-deceased by her husband Noel, brother John, sisters Mary and Breda, and nephew Brian; Mrs Goodall is survived by her son Jason, sister Margaret, grandson Nathanael, nephews, nieces, and extended family members.

Mrs Goodall will repose at the nearby funeral home, of D. Whelan and sons, Bansha Road, Knockanrawley, Tipperary Town, Co. Tipperary, on Wednesday evening next, February 22nd, from 6:00 to 7:00pm; followed later by private cremation.

Death Of Martha Scanlon, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death today, Saturday 18th February, 2023, of Mrs Martha Scanlon (née Moore), Croke Gardens, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Kennedy Park, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband Paddy, son-in-law Richie Flynn, sister Kathleen, brothers Seán, Brendan, Jim and Joe; Mrs Scanlon passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Her passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by her children Brian, Trish, Shay and Bríd, daughters-in-law Suzy and Elaine, son-in-law Nav, grandchildren Aisling, Ciara, Eimear, Méabh, Muireann, Eesha, Eyrah, Liam and Roisin, great-granddaughter Ailbhe, sister-in-law Lily, nephews, nieces, particularly Martha, Anne, Paddy and Tom, extended relatives, neighbours and cherished friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Scanlon will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Monday afternoon, February 20th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm same evening, before being received into the Church of St. Joseph & St. Brigid, Bothar-na-Naomh, Thurles at 7:45pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning, Feburary 21st, at 10:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
