Death Of Tom Heaphy, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Sunday 21st May 2023, of Mr Tom (Farmer) Heaphy, Abbeyside, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his mother Margaret, father Andy, sister Pauline and brother-in-law John; Mr Heaphy passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, while in the care of staff at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving family; his devoted wife Margaret, son Andy, sisters Maura, Stella, Margaret and Patricia, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, cousins, extended relatives, good neighbours, members of Thurles and District Vintage Club and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Heaphy will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Tuesday afternoon, May 23rd, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm same evening.
His remains will will be received into the former Cistercian Monastery Church, Holycross, Thurles on Wednesday morning, May 24th, at 11:00am to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11.30am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

New Guidelines Published for Parents on Children’s Data Protection Rights.

The Data Protection Commission (DPC) has recently published four short guides for parents on children’s data protection rights under General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). These guides are intended to help parents to understand their children’s rights and to answer questions that can arise in typical situations where those rights apply.

Protecting children’s personal data is an important priority for the DPC, and is one of the five strategic goals of our 2022-2027 Regulatory Strategy. The DPC has also published our ‘Fundamentals’ guidance on children’s data protection rights to help organisations provide the special protection required when they process children’s personal data. These guides are part of the DPC’s work to give effect to the goals stated those documents.

My child’s data protection rights – the basics
The above link outlines some of the issues that can arise when a parent seeks to exercise data protection rights on behalf of their child.

Children’s data and parental consent
The above link looks at the meaning of the ‘digital age of consent’ and outlines when parents’ consent may be needed for processing their child’s personal data, and how parents can approach those cases.

North Tipperary Vintage & Machinery Club Make Donation To Suir Haven Cancer Support Centre.

Last Saturday night, North Tipperary Vintage & Machinery Club made a sizeable donation of €2,000.00 to the Suir Haven Cancer Support Centre in Thurles, with the presentation made at an event which gathered in Corcoran’s Bar, latter premises situated in the village of Two-Mile-Borris, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

The North Tipperary Vintage and Machinery Club “Road Run”, as stated earlier, took place on March 19th last, starting in Two-Mile-Borris via Littleton, Ballinunty, Ballysloe, Gortnahoe, Mary Willies and back to Two-Mile-Borris for a hot meal, provided by Joan Dwyer and her team, catering for up to 200 people.

Up to 150 Tractors, Cars and Lorries took part, with the Order of Malta giving valuable assistance along the route. Much thanks to Vincent and Elaine Corcoran for the use of their premises, field etc.

North Tipperary Vintage & Machinery Club wish to thanks all who supported their raffle and gave donations for the event.

Suir Haven Cancer Support Centre in Thurles.
The Suir Haven, Cancer Support Centre here in Thurles, offers emotional support, practical help, information and education to anyone with a cancer diagnosis, through their carers or family members. They offer counselling, reflexology, acupuncture, massage, yoga, arts and crafts and many courses, all of whitch are free of charge. They are funded by North Tipperary Hospice, which relies completely on fundraising and voluntary contributions.

Death Of Tony Burgess, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, today Sunday 21st May 2023, of Mr Anthony (Tony) Michael Burgess, late Ballinacloughy, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Lisronagh, Clonmel, South Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his loving parents Alice and Hugh, brother Paul; Mr Burgess passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at University Hospital Waterford (Oak Ward).

His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Burgess will repose in McCarthys Funeral Home, Main Street, Fethard, Co. Tipperary, on Tuesday afternoon, May 23rd, from 5:30pm with removal same evening at 6:30pm to be received into the Church of the Holy Trinity, Fethard, Co. Tipperary, arriving at 7:00pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning, May 24th, at 11:30am, followed by cremation immediately afterwards in The Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Spike Island, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.

North Tipperary Vintage & Machinery Club Make Presentation To ‘Blue Door’.

Saturday night, May 20th 2023, saw a presentation of €2,000.00 to the “Blue Door”, latter an initiate of Thurles Lion Club. The presentation was made in front of a large attendance, in Corcoran’s Bar, situated in the village of Two-Mile-Borris, Co. Tipperary.
