Pre-deceased by her husband John and son Michael; the passing of Mrs Gilmartin is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sons John and Pat, brothers Ned and Joe, sister Kathleen (Maguire), grandchildren Ryan, Caitlyn, Peter, Noah, Amy and Daniel, great-granddaughter Amelia, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Gilmartin will repose at O’Connell’s Funeral Home, No.1 Bóthar Lug, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, E41 VX02 on tomorrow afternoon, Friday September 8th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm same evening, before being received into the Church of St. Mary, Bailey Street, Killenaule Thurles, at 8.30pm. Requiem Mass for Mrs Gilmartin will be celebrated, on Saturday morning, September 9th, at 11:30am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Tipperary and Drom and Inch senior hurling player Mr Séamus Callanan yesterday (Wednesday September 6th), has announced his retirement from inter-county hurling, following some 16 years with the Tipperary senior hurling squad.
In announcing his decision Mr Callanan stated that it had been a privilege and that he was most grateful to have had such an enjoyable career with so many truly outstanding memories.

Mr Callanan was part of the All-Ireland winning teams of 2010 and 2016, going on to captain the squad in 2019 and celebrate winning the Liam MacCarthy cup again, following Tipperary’s win over Kilkenny in 2019; with being named Hurler of the Year, thus adding to his enumeration of four All-Star Awards.
In a statement Mr Callanan said: “I wish to thank all the Tipperary players I had the pleasure of calling my team mates since 2008. I have made lifelong friends and feel honoured to have taken to the pitch with some of the greatest hurlers who ever wore the Tipperary jersey. I am also grateful to all the managers and backroom teams who gave me so much support and guidance through the years”.
He also thanked his club, and added that he looked forward to continuing to line out for ‘Drom and Inch’ for many years to come while wishing Co. Tipperary every success for the 2024 season.
Gardaí in Clonmel are currently investigating a serious incident which occurred in the early hours of Monday morning last, September 4th 2023.
At approximately 12:30am and on the above stated date, a car was prevented from exiting the Tesco car park, off the Inner Relief Road (N24) in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, by four males, who then surrounded the car. The male suspects gained access and put the driver under duress to transport them to the Prior Park Road, Queen Street, area of Clonmel. The driver of the car was then assaulted, before the suspects fled the scene on foot, travelling in the direction of the Cashel Road, Clonmel. The four suspects are all believed to be in their mid-teens and may have been observed, while on foot in the area of the Inner Relief Road (Bypass), or in the Queen Street / Cashel Road areas of Clonmel, between 12:00 midnight and 1:30am on Monday morning last.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have observed these individuals or any other suspicious behaviour which may be linked to this incident. Similarly, any drivers in possession of dash-cam footage, who were in this area at the time, are asked to contact Gardaí. Persons with information are asked to make contact with Clonmel Garda Station, Tel: 052-6177640 or the Garda Confidential Line Free-phone, Tel: 1800 666 111 or indeed any Garda station.
Mrs O’Toole passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Her passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed her loving husband Tommy, children Tracey, Amanda and Alison, adoring grandchildren Joseph, Callum, Sean, Joshua and Ethan, sons-in-law, Mark, Cliff and Sam, her brother Michael and sister-in-law Anna, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, relatives and friends.
