Science Events for Aged 6+ In Cashel Library – Ms Maura Barrett, (Cashel Library) Reports:-

Two Science Week events are taking place in Cashel Library, this coming week, on dates Wednesday 15th and 16th of November 2023.

The first Science Week event will take place in Cashel Library, on Wednesday, November 15th, when “Professor Egghead”, aka Jay Ryan, will celebrate the wonder of Science, by exploring the air around us.
The programme targets young people aged 6 years plus and will begin at 3:30pm running until 4:15pm

The second Science Week event entitled “How Science Could Help You Be Superhuman”, takes place also in Cashel Library, on Thursday November 16th, in association with Mary Immaculate College and Tipperary Festival of Science.
This programme begins sharp at 4:00pm.

Death Of Sadie Scally, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Friday 10th November 2023 of Mrs Sarah (Sadie) Scally (née Madden), Cabragh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly Lisatonny, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her parents Nancy and Denis; Mrs Scally passed away peacefully after long illness most bravely borne, while in the care of staff at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

Her passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving husband Donie, her brothers-in-law Eugene Scally and Mossy Scally, her sisters-in-law Kitty Scally, Evelyn Nevin, Rosie Kavanagh, and Anne Foley and good friend Mary Russell, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Requiescat in Pace.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mrs Scally will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, on Tuesday afternoon, November 14th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm same evening.
Her remains will be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles on Wednesday, November 15th, at 10:30am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in Holycross Abbey graveyard.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Thursday 9th November 2023 of Ms Michelle Ryan, Newtown, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Islington, London.

Pre-deceased by her parents Molly and Jerry and sister Katherine; Ms Ryan passed away peacefully while in the care of staff at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, surrounded by her loving family.

Her passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by her devoted partner Kevin, daughters Jessica and Lily, son Darragh, brothers J.J. and David, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Her remains will be received into the former Cistercian Abbey Church at Holycross, Thurles, on Monday morning, arriving at 11:00am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in the adjoining graveyard.

Tesco, prompted by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) is recalling this affected batch as it may be unsafe for consumers, latter who are allergic to or intolerant of milk.

Farmers Fresh Payments Delay “Completely Unacceptable’ – Francie Gorman.

Farm payments to Achill farmers are suspended.

IFA Presidential candidate, Mr Francie Gorman has said the news that no cleared applicants will be paid until December 1st, is “shattering confidence” amongst farmers; in the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s ability to administer schemes and pay them on time.

Last month, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine wrote to farmers stating that payments under various schemes, including ANC, BISS and ECO, would commence in the second half of October.
However, the payment date has now been delayed by a further three weeks.

“Farmers have been informed today that no further cleared applicants will receive any payment until the start of next month,” said Gorman. “This is an unacceptable intrusion into the routine running of farmers’ businesses with commitments to be met at this time of the year, including payments to banks, merchants and Revenue. This shatters confidence in the Department’s ability to administer schemes and pay farmers on time.”

Mr Gorman continued, “Separately, I have learned that the Department has written to 46 farmers in Achill, County Mayo, to inform them that their farm payments are being suspended due to a burning issue that occurred on the island last May. This is a devastating blow to these farmers whose income has already been hammered in one of the most difficult years in recent memory.”
