The above batch of Finnegan’s Farm potato croquettes is being recalled by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, as it contains sulphur dioxide which is not declared in the list of ingredients. The product has passed its expiry date, however there are freezing instructions on the label and therefore consumers may have this batch in their freezers.
This may make the batch unsafe for consumers, who are allergic to or intolerant of sulphur dioxide.
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Tuesday 6th February 2024, of Ms Mary Feehan, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin and formerly of Georgespark, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her parents Tom and Bridie, sister Kathleen and nephew Adrian; Ms Feehan passed away peacefully while in the care of staff at Maryfield Nursing Home, Dublin.
Her passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving brothers Paddy and Jimmy (Australia), brother-in-law Paddy, sister-in-law Moira, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended relatives, neighbours and a close circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Ms Feehan will repose at Maryfield Nursing Home, Old Lucan Road, Dublin 20, (Eircode D20 WC89), on Friday morning, February 9th from 10:00am, followed by Requiem Mass at 11:00am.
Interment will take place immediately afterwards, in Fennor Cemetery, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary at approximately 2.30pm.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Tuesday 6th February 2024, of Mrs Mona Jordan (née Sweeney), Kennedy Park, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Crosscannon, Killenaule, Thurles, Co Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her husband John, son Jason, sister Mary and parents Neillie and Christy; Mrs Jordan passed away peacefully at her place of residence, following a short illness most bravely borne, while surrounded by her family.
Her passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving family; sons Thomas and Mark, daughter Catherine, grandchildren Jason (and his partner Megan), Bríma, Mark and Emilia (and her Mam Melanie), great-grandchildren Joshua and Millie, daughter-in-law Mary, son-in-law Mick, brothers John and Lar, sisters Bridget, Patricia and Margaret, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Jordan will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, on tomorrow evening, Thursday February 8th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
Her remains will be received into the Church of St Joseph and St Brigid, Bothar-na-Naomh, Thurles, at 9:30am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 10:00am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Michael Crotty, with an address at Slí Aonghusa, Áras na Rí, Cashel, Co Tipperary, has pleaded guilty to a charge at the Special Criminal Court Dublin.
Mr Crotty had initially pleaded not guilty to helping the Kinahan organised crime group shoot dead Mr Noel Kirwan, latter a father of four in driveway of his home at St Ronan’s Drive, Clondalkin, Dublin just three days before Christmas, in 2016.
The 42-year-old Mr Crotty has now admitted to facilitating the buying a mobile top-up for Mr Sean McGovern, latter a leading member of the aforementioned international crime gang. The latter Mr McGovern, a significant figure within the Kinahan criminal organisation, is understood to be currently residing in Dubai.
The court heard that Mr Kirwan who had absolutely no involvement in criminality, was mistakenly thought to have been connected to the murder of Mr David Byrne, at the Regency Hotel in February 2016. A tracker device had been placed on Mr Kirwan’s motor vehicle, which was being monitored from an apartment in the Beacon South Quarter, Sandyford, Dublin 18.
Three unregistered prepaid mobile phones are understood to have been used during the murder of Mr Kirwan.
Mr Declan Brady (known as “Mr Nobody” who already pleaded guilty in the Special Criminal Court to possessing nine revolvers, four semi-automatic pistols, a sub-machine gun, an assault rifle and 1,355 rounds of ammunition, located at a unit in Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole, County Dublin), together with Mr Martin Alymer (latter who previously pleaded guilty to procuring mobile phones, which contributed to the murder of Mr Kirwan in 2016, and to a similar offence in relation to the attempted murder of alleged Hutch gang lieutenant, Mr James ‘Mago’ Gately), have already pleaded guilty to their involvement in the crime.
Mr Crotty has now pleaded guilty to the new charge, under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act; admitting that between October 20th, 2016 and December 22nd, 2016, on both dates inclusive and within the State, with knowledge of the existence of a criminal organisation, did participate in, or contribute to, activity intending to, or being reckless as to whether such participation or contribution could facilitate the commission of a serious offence by that criminal organisation or any of its membership.
Judge Ms Caroline Biggs has now extended Mr Crotty’s bail and adjourned the case to April 22nd, next for sentencing.
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Monday 5th February 2024, of Ms Margaret Doherty, Rossestown, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her parents Joe and Margaret and her brother Oliver; Ms Doherty sadly passed away unexpectedly, following a short illness.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving family; devoted and long term partner Pierre, sister Mary (Flynn), brothers John, Eddie and Francis, nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law, Pierre’s family Yvonne, Mich, Lynda and Aidy, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

The earthly remains of Ms Doherty will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Friday afternoon, February 9th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm same evening.
Her funeral cortège will leave her residence on Saturday morning, February 10th, to be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles at 10:30am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
