Death Of Mary Dwyer, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death yesterday, Saturday 6th April 2024, of Mrs Mary Dwyer (née Mulhern), No. 55 Childers Park, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, and formerly of Drumlumman, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

Pre-deceased by her husband Bill, parents Jimmy and Una (Mulhern); Mrs Dwyer passed away peacefully, following a short illness, while in the care of staff of Marymount Hospice, Cork.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; daughters Niamh, Aisling and Grainne, grandchildren Rhys, Eden and Frankie, daughter-in-law Maria, son-in-law Peter, sister Gertie, brothers Junior, Seamus and Rory. nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended relatives, good neighbours and great friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mrs Dwyer will repose at her residence (E41 KX59) on Monday afternoon, April 8th from 4:00pm until 8:00pm same evening.
Her remains will be received into the Church of St Joseph and St Brigid, Bothar-na-Naomh, Thurles, on Tuesday morning, April 9th, at 9:30am to further repose for Requiem Mass at 10:00am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards in St Patrick’s cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of Mr Seamus Kennedy, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death yesterday, Saturday 6th April 2024, of Mr Seamus Kennedy, (Funeral Director) Castlequater House, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his sister Marie (Fogarty) and grandnephew John (Ryan), Mr Kennedy passed away peacefully while in the care of staff at Milford Care Centre, Co. Limerick.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; his loving wife Zita, adored daughter Karina and her partner William, brother Fr. Denis (Holy Ghost Fathers, CSSp. Dublin), sister Margaret (Ryan), sisters-in-law, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, extended relatives, neighbours, Dr. Liam Casserly and his team at the renal dept. University Hospital Limerick, and a wide circle of friends.

His remains will be received into the Church of the Sacred Heart, Pallas Street, Borrisoleigh, Thurles on Tuesday afternoon, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 1:00pm, followed by cremation at Shannon Crematorium, Illaunmanagh, Shannon, Co. Clare, (V14 PV30).

MTU Launch Cybersecurity Scholarship Programme.

Munster Technological University (MTU) latter, the merger between two institutes of technology, (Cork Institute of Technology and the Institute of Technology, Tralee since January 2021), has launched a cybersecurity scholarship programme, with applications now open to students.

All successful applicants are being invited to join a 10-month programme where they will receive a tax-free scholarship of €38,000.

While participants do not need to have a cybersecurity or IT background to apply, the programme will be provided with the necessary skills to evaluate, select and validate ideas for new cybersecurity products and services, which will contribute to the creation of new start-ups and innovations.

Students from IT, humanities and business are welcome to apply with the purpose of this programme to form teams with the combined abilities to produce the best cybersecurity innovations/startups.

The Chair of cybersecurity at MTU, Dr Donna O’Shea has stated: “To our potential participants: This is not just another training or startup programme, it’s a journey towards becoming pioneers in cybersecurity innovation and for you to make your mark on the world. We have the people, the mentors and some of the most advanced cyber security research infrastructure in Ireland for you to realise your success. Our graduates will be catalysts, educators, and leaders—architecting innovative cyber security solutions that bolster our national security and propel Ireland to the forefront of global cyber entrepreneurship.”

Death Of Biddy Stapleton, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death today, Saturday 6th April 2024, of Mrs Bridget (Biddy) Stapleton (née Ryan), Clonkelly, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Knockeravoola, Upperchurch, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband Tom and brother Larry; Mrs Stapleton passed away, sadly, while in the care of staff at the Woodlands Nursing Home, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary.

Her passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by her cousins, extended relatives, kind neighbours and many friends.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death yesterday 5th April 2024, of Mr Michael (Mick) Dooley, No.7 St Anne’s Terrace, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents George and Mabel, daughter Anne-Marie, sister Maureen and brothers Georgie and Frank; Mr Dooley passed away peacefully at his place of residence, surrounded by his loving family.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family: his wife Noreen, sons Murty, Aidan, Philip and Mikey, his daughters Cathy, Caroline, Sinèad and Maria, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, brother Aidan, sisters Mary, Eileen and Anne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
