On yesterday afternoon, a Cashel, Co. Tipperary male resident was charged before the Special Criminal Court, with helping a criminal gang to murder one Mr Christopher (Known as Noel‘Duck Egg’) Kirwan. Latter named, and father-of-four, was shot six times, resulting in his death, as he sat in his car, on December 22nd, 2016, at St. Ronan’s Drive, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
The accused male, named as Mr Michael Crotty, aged 40, holding an address at Slí Aonghusa, Aras na Rí, Cashel, Co. Tipperary, was charged under Section 72 of the Criminal justice Act, with involvement/participation in the murder, between October 20th, 2016 and December 22nd, 2016.
Mr Michael Crotty had been charged at 7:00am on Monday morning in the precincts of the court, before being served with the ‘Book of Evidence’.
Mr Crotty’s Defence solicitor sought a six-week adjournment in the case, which was granted by presiding judge Mr Justice Alex Owens, latter sitting with Judge Martin Nolan and Judge Frank Griffin.
Mr Justice Owens further remanded Mr Crotty in custody; adjourning the case to May 23rd next.
Pre-deceased by her husband Jim; Mrs McDonnell passed away peacefully.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving family; Patrick, Niall, Aidan, Colm and Sinéad, sister Bridie, daughters-in-law Cait, Emer, Liz, Mary, the late Aveen and Sheila, son-in-law Gavan, grandchildren, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Mrs McDonnell will repose at her place of residence on Wednesday evening, April 13th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Her body will be received into the Roman Catholic Church of St. Alphonsus, Barntown, Co. Wexford, on Thursday morning, April 14th, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 12:00 noon, followed by interment immediately afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.
[NB: Due to Public Health Guidelines, regarding C-19 virus restrictions; those attending Requiem Mass will continue to observe strict adherence to social distancing, face covering, with no hand shaking.]

Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning, April 14th, at 10:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
For the many persons who would have liked to have attended Requiem Mass for Mrs O’Mahony, but are unable to do so, due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic; same can be viewed online HERE.

The Department of Health, here in the Republic of Ireland has reported 12,208 new cases of Covid-19, since Friday last.
In the past 14 days, up until April 10th last, 2,304 positive Covid-19 cases were reported in Co. Tipperary, of which 269 cases were identified just in the Thurles area, latter comprising a population of some 19,382 resident people.
On Saturday, the HPSC confirmed 2,756 PCR cases with 2,521 people registering a positive antigen test again through the HSE portal. [Total 5,277] Yesterday, Sunday, the HPSC confirmed 1,442 PCR cases with a further 1,725 patients registering a positive antigen test through the HSE portal. [Total 3,167] Today the department confirmed 1,715 PCR cases, while a further 2,049 people registered positive antigen tests through the HSE portal. [Total 3,764] or [Total over 3 day period = 12,208].
In the last 24 hours, there remain 1,081 patients in our Republic’s hospitals infected with the virus, of whom 55 remain in ICUs.
In Northern Ireland, a further 632 cases of coronavirus were reported today, up from the 562 cases reported on Sunday. Today, 438 virus infected people are in hospital in Northern Ireland, with 3 patients in ICU. Sadly, 3 new Covid-19-related deaths have also been reported in Northern Ireland today, bringing the total number of Covid-19-related deaths since the start of the pandemic to 6,863.
