It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, today Friday 21st February 2025, of Mrs Stasia O’Grady (née Walsh), Mullinoly, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her loving parents Frank and Kitty and beloved husband Tom; Mrs O’Grady passed away peacefully while in the care of the staff at Waterford University Hospital (Orthopaedic 2 ward), surrounded by her loving family.
Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; sons Colin, Alan and Michael, daughters-in-law Geraldine, Susan and Rose sisters Brigid, Kathleen, Chris and Bernadette, grandchildren Alexandra, Ryan, Alice, Nancy, Liam and Joe, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Mrs O’Grady will be received into the Church of St Michael, Kickham Street, Mullinahone, Thurles, to repose for Requiem Mass on Tuesday morning, February 25th, at 11:00am, followed by a Service of Cremation immediately afterwards in The Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork at 4:00pm, same afternoon.

Message: Peanut was detected as a contaminant in an ingredient used in the above batch of frozen Tesco 2 Creamy Chicken Bakes. The implicated batch is subject to recall.
The affected batch may be unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of peanut and therefore, these consumers should not eat the implicated batch.
Today, (Friday February 21st), marks the launch of a new Central Criminal Court protocol at the Criminal Courts of Justice, to expedite rape and murder cases, latter involving victims and defendants under 18 years of age.
The protocol was drafted by a working group established in April 2024, chaired by Judge Caroline Biggs. The work was undertaken under the aegis of the Criminal Justice Users’ group which is convened by Judge Paul McDermott. The aim of the protocol is to expedite rape and murder cases involving victims and defendants under 18 years of age.
The protocol recognises children’s vulnerability and that delays in the criminal justice system can be detrimental to child victims and child defendants.
The protocol states that in cases involving rape or/and murder involving victims and defendants under 18 years of age reduced timelines for a case to go to trial should be adhered to. The expedited timeline would be 52 weeks approximately and apply to cases in the Central Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ).
As part of the protocol a ‘Court Accompaniment Support Worker’ will be provided for child offenders by the Youth Diversion Projects funded by the Department of Justice. The Court accompaniment is not an advocacy role, but they will explain in laypersons terms, to the young defendant what is happening at various stages of the court proceedings.

Pre-deceased by his parents Ellen and William, brothers Joe, Eddie and John and his sisters Maura and Catherine; Rev. Walsh passed away peacefully at his home.
His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; nieces Karina, Emma, Miriam and Liz, nephews Michael, Willie, Jim, Mark and Con and their families, sister-in-law Christine, his cousin Fr. Laurence [Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance (OCSO)], Bishop Fintan Monahan and the clergy, religious and laity of the diocese of Killaloe, neighbours and his wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Most Rev. William Walsh will lie in repose at the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul, O’Connell Street, Clonroad Beg, Ennis, Co. Clare, on Sunday afternoon, February 23rd, from 3:00pm with evening prayer at 7:00pm same evening.
Requiem Mass for the former retired Bishop will be celebrated on Monday afternoon, February 24th at 1:00pm, followed by interment, immediately afterwards in the Cathedral grounds.

Message: Further to FSAI Food Alert 2025.10, some additional batches and pack sizes of Old Irish Creamery Cheese Irish cheddar cheese products are being recalled due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes. Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.
Nature Of Danger: Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications. Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly. The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is on average 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.
Action Required: Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, caterers & retailers:
Retailers: Same are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.
Wholesalers/distributors: Same are requested to contact their affected customers and recall the implicated batches and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retailer customers.
Caterers: Same should not use the implicated batches.
Consumers: Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches.
