Message:

The above implicated Sona Red Yeast Rice food supplement is being recalled due an elevated level of monacolin K.
Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.

Nature Of Danger:

People who consume monacolin K from red yeast rice supplements in an amount greater than 3mg per day may experience several adverse effects. These adverse effects include gastrointestinal disorders e.g. diarrhoea, nausea and abdominal pain, musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders e.g. myalgia, hepatobiliary disorders and skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders.

Action Required from Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, caterers & retailers:

Retailers are requested to remove the implicated product from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.

Wholesalers/distributors are requested to contact their affected customers and recall the implicated product and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retailer customers.

Consumers are advised not to take the implicated product.

Death Of Joan Ferns, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Wednesday 6th November 2024, of Mrs Joan Ferns (née Fogarty), Cuddagh South, Ballacolla, Co.Laois; Castletown, Co.Laois and formerly Drombane, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Liam; Mrs Ferns, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at her place of ordinary residence.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; sons Anthony & Thomas, daughters Mary and Margaret, grandchildren Alex, Karl, Daniel, Joe and Dara, brothers Sean, Ned and P.J., sisters Sr. Patricia and Agnes, sons-in-law Hugh and Darren, daughter-in-law Pearl and Thomas’s partner Maura, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and wonderful friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mrs Ferns will repose at Burke’s Funeral Home, 103 Shannon St, Mountrath, Co. Laois, (R32 RC80) on this evening, Friday November 8th from 6:30pm, concluding with Rosary at 8:30pm.
Her remains will be received into the Church of St. Edmund, Elderfield, Castletown, Co. Laois (XGG4+VG) to further repose for Requiem Mass on Saturday morning, November 9th at 11:00am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in Churchtown Cemetery, Mountrath, Co. Laois.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Thursday 31st October 2024, of Mr Mark Ryan, Canada and formerly of Moycarkey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Alison, father Jackie and brother Noel; the passing of Mr Ryan is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family, daughters Emma and Sarah, son Jack, mother Mary, brothers Dermot, John, Gerard, Seamus, sister Breda. sister-in -law, brother-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends in Canada, England and Ireland.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Wednesday 6th November 2024, of
Mrs Maura Shanahan (née Cahill), Clonmore, Drombane, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Jim, brother Michael and daughter-in-law Mary; Mrs Shanahan passed away peacefully at her place of ordinary residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; family, daughter Margaret (Johnson), sons Michael and Matt, daughter-in-law Deirdre, son-in-law Michael, brother Tom Cahill, sisters-in-law Catriona and Bríd, grand-children, Ashley, Aoife, Sarah, Kate, Jack, Niamh, Jamie and Caoimhe. Nieces, nephews extended relatives, neighbours, friends and wonderful carers who enabled her to remain at her home.

Her remains will be received into the Church of St Laurence O’Toole, Munroe, The Ragg, Thurles (E41 RC96), on Saturday afternoon, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 1:00pm, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Bouladuff, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
