The Holycross County Tipperary Open Drama Festival committee are proud to announce that they have acquired the services, as ‘Adjudicator’, of Ms Irene O’Meara(B.Ed. LLSM, MA Drama & Theatre Studies) for the 2025, eight day, prestigious festival, which begins on Friday March 21st next and ends on Saturday March 29th.
Ms O’Meara holds a Masters in Drama and Theatre Studies, which has enabled her to work in many theatre related areas, namely the Drama Department of Mary Immaculate College and as a tutor with Hibernia College, in Drama, Literacy, and Integrated Arts. She is also involved in designs while facilitating courses in Process Drama for teachers and educators.
Her other work involves facilitating workshops in acting, ensemble work and other aspects of theatre, including the improvement of basic stagecraft.
Ms O’Meara has acted and directed in many plays with Nenagh Players, Aisteoirí an Aonaigh, DramsocNUIG and other drama groups over the years; as well as working on Lighting, Sound, Wardrobe, Stage Management. She has been involved in various committees and greatly appreciates all of the work and talent that goes on behind the scenes, thus enabling on-stage matters to run smoothly.
Ms O’Meara has a keen interest in dance and has also worked as choreographer with ‘Kids On Stage’, latter a Musical Theatre school in Tipperary. Her latest venture has been working in the area of harmonic singing, where the process of collaboratively creating and enjoying harmonies works as a healing, relaxing and grounding agent for the singers.
Finally, Ms O’Meara enjoys adjudicating at festivals and is looking forward to viewing the variety of this year’s productions at the County Tipperary Open Drama Festival in Holycross, Thurles and meeting with both the talented Drama Groups and the various audiences, each night.

Pre-deceased by his parents Jack and May; Mr Maher passed away peacefully at his place of ordinary residence, surrounded by his loving family.
His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving wife Mary, daughters Emma, Gillian and Mary Jane, sons-in-law Gareth Delahunt, Micheál O’Neill and Brian Moran, grandchildren J.D., Hugh and Emily (Delahunt) and Peter (Moran), sister Mary O’Donnell, brothers Pat and Matt, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and a very wide circle of wonderful friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Mr Maher will repose at his residence(Eircode E25 FK33) on tomorrow afternoon, Saturday March 8th, from 3:00pm until 7:00pm same evening. His remains will be received into the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Boherlahan, Cashel on Sunday afternoon, March 9th, at 1:00pm, to further repose for Requiem Mass, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in Ardmayle Graveyard, Ardmayle, Co. Tipperary

The windows and glass doors of two popular business premised situated on Liberty Square, in Thurles town centre, were severely damaged sometime over the past 24 hours.
“Treasure Box”, No. 36 Liberty Square, Thurles.
One of the premises and the building most severely damaged was a recently opened convenience store known as “Treasure box”, latter situated at No. 36 Liberty Square, (formerly Stakelum’s Ladies Boutique), close to Barry’s Bridge and opposite the medieval Butler Castle.
“Roma” Fish & Chips Take Away at No. 59 Liberty Square, Thurles.
The other businesses damaged were a Take Away Fish & Chips premises known as “Roma”, situated at No. 59, central on Liberty Square.
We understand that local investigating Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry and have identified the individual involved in this senseless behaviour.
The reason for the malicious damage caused, is not fully understood, but locals strongly condemn it as a possible racist attack, by one badly informed individual.
