Covid-19 Updates: Sat. 29th May 2021 – 464 New Virus Cases

The Department of Health this evening has confirmed there have been 464 new additional virus cases reported here within the Irish Republic; with same case numbers subject to future data validation.

There are 90 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today in the Republic of Ireland, and of that number 35 are in ICU’s.

In Northern Ireland, one person has died from coronavirus and in the past 24 hrs, there have been a further 68 positive cases reported .

The total worldwide number of virus cases identified up to 4:00pm this evening, now stands at well over 169.55 million confirmed cases, with global deaths at well over 3.52 million.

Death Of Mr Teddy O’Connor, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.

It was with the deepest personal regret that I learned of the death, yesterday Thursday 27th May 2021, of Mr Terry (Teddy) O’Connor, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford and formerly of Blackrock and Deansgrange, Co. Dublin.

Mr O’Connor passed away peacefully at his home, following a long illness most bravely bourne.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his beloved wife Anne (née Stephenson), family Claire and David, son-in-law Tim, daughter-in-law Vicky, grandchildren James and Alex (Eve), brothers Ernie (Templetuohy, Thurles, Co. Tipperary), Paddy, Michael and Con, his sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mr O’Connor will repose in St. Mary’s Church, Enniscorthy, for a funeral service on Monday morning next, May 31st at 11.00am.

For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Mr O’Connor, but are unable to do so due to current coronavirus pandemic restrictions; same can be viewed online HERE.

[NB: Due to National Public Health Guidelines, regarding C-19 virus restrictions; those attending (limited to 50 mourners), will continue to observe strict adherence to social distancing and face covering.]

Covid-19 Updates: Fri. 28th May 2021 – 467 New Virus Cases.

The Department of Health this evening has confirmed there have been 467 new additional virus cases reported here within the Irish Republic; with same case numbers subject to future data validation.

An Tánaiste Mr Leo Varadkar has stated that over 70% of the population will be vaccinated by the end of June and more than 60% of the adult population will be fully vaccinated by the end of July.

There are 99 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today in the Republic of Ireland, and of that number 38 are in ICU’s.

Meanwhile, the government has approved measures that will allow for the further reopening of the hospitality sector this summer season.
As and from June 2nd, hotels can reopen followed by outdoor service at restaurants and pubs from June 7th.
On July 5th, bars and restaurants will be able to serve customers indoors again; while non-essential international travel is expected to resume on July 19th next.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has given the thumbs up for the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine to be given to 12 to 15-year-olds. Same is the first vaccine to get the green light for children within the European Union.

The total worldwide number of virus cases identified up to 5:00pm this evening, now stands at well over 169.06 million confirmed cases, with global deaths at well over 3.51 million.

Conditional Planning Approval For 36 Houses In Thurles.

Conditional planning approval has been granted for a multi-million Euro housing development here in Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Cahillclass Properties Ltd, (Company Registration Number IE605291 – set up on Wednesday the 31st of May 2017), with an address at Toureenclassaugh, Knocknagree, Mallow Co Cork, is the company behind the welcomed housing development’s conditional planning proposal, which will be situated on a current derelict site, located on Stradavoher Road, directly opposite Stradavoher Court, south of the town.

The originally lodged planning application was made in April of last year, for the supply of some 36 houses on this one hectare (2.48 acres) site.

Further information on the project, had been requested by Tipperary County Council in mid-July of last year, which has since been submitted since last month.

Garda Search Warrant Leads To €40k Cannabis Herb Seizure In Tipperary.

Yesterday, Wednesday May 26th 2021, members of the Cahir and Cashel Garda Drugs Unit, assisted by the Divisional Crime Task Force, Cahir Community Policing and the Garda Dog Unit executed a search warrant at Hymenstown, New Inn, Co Tipperary.

It was during the course of this organised search, that cannabis herb with a street value of some €40,000 was seized.

A file is now expected to be forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) within the coming days.
