Covid-19 Cases Increase By 63 Today.

As of midnight, Friday 25th June, the Department of Health has reported 443 new cases of Covid-19; up 63 on yesterdays reported figure.

There are 43 patients currently in our hospitals with the disease, (up 7 on yesterday) and 13 of these are being treated in ICU.

In Northern Ireland, 298 positive cases of Covid-19 and no deaths were reported in the past 24 hours

Here in the Republic, the Chief Executive of the HSE Paul Reid confirmed that 84% of cases of the Delta variant are in the those under 45 years old, and only 40% of eligible adults will be fully-vaccinated by close of business yesterday.

Known evidence now suggests that the Delta variant circulates much more widely during the summer months, especially amongst younger, unvaccinated individuals.

The total worldwide number of known virus cases identified up to 4.30pm this evening, now stands at well over 203,105,794 confirmed cases, with global deaths at well over 4,299,559 persons and rising.

Please do continue to wear your face coverings and to socially distance. The latter has proven to have significantly limited the spread of COVID-19.

Fraud Prevention Advice

Fraud Prevention Advice Regarding Automated Phone Calls and Texts.

Tipperary Gardaí are urging the public to spread the word regarding fraud prevention, as people continue to fall victim to scams on a daily basis.

In recent days Tipperary Divisional Gardai have been alerted to an increase of Scam phone calls whereby the recipient is called and advised via a recorded message that An Garda Síochána is investigating them in relation to suspicious activity linked to their PPS number. In order to rectify the situation the recipient is then advised to press a number to speak to someone further in relation to the matter.

Clonmel Gardai are issuing a warning to the public about fraudulent texts, emails and phone call scams requesting personal data, after receiving numerous complaints in the past week.

Banks, the Department of Social Welfare, An Garda Siochana etc. will never contact you via phone or email requesting personal details such as your PPS number or Bank Account details.

PLEASE DO REMEMBER:

Do Not Engage with the caller or return the call.
Never Share Personal Information with anyone online, by text or on a cold call.
A Member of An Garda Siochana or a Department of Social Protection employee would never advise a member of the Public to move money from their account or to purchase cryptocurrency or move their money anywhere to keep it safe.
Do not follow the automated instructions – Do not press 1 etc.
Never disclose personal or financial information.
Hang up and block the number if possible.

Whilst the scammers may change their stories and methods, their goal is always the same – they want to access your sensitive information and get their hands on your money.

Holycross Village Bi-Weekly Market, Tomorrow Saturday June 26th.

A reminder that the bi-weekly Holycross Village Market is taking place tomorrow, Saturday June 26th, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Do attend early to be certain of enjoying their artisan bakes, hot foods, arts and crafts, fresh meats, fruit and vegetables, hair braiding, face painting and much, much, much more.

Showcasing at the market this week is “Purple Cloud Lavender” as seen on Nationwide last Friday (June 18th). This is a must for bee keepers and more.

Padre Pio residents are also joining them this week along with more new vendors and products.

Their pre-order system is up and running and a reminder to anyone who cannot visit the market, all vendors are more than happy to arrange collection or delivery of their products as necessary.

Lucinda O’Sullivan of the Sunday Independent gave the Holycross Market a lovely mention in a recent article, so do go along and see what exactly she was complimenting.

Remember, there is ample parking behind the Abbey church, so do please avail of it and enjoy the beauty that Holycross hamlet has to offer.

Death Of Billy Hanley Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It is with the deepest regret that we learned of the death, today Friday 25th June 2021, of Mr William (Billy) Hanley, Bailey Street, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Noan, Ballinure, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Hanley passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Waterford Regional Hospital.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his wife Teresa, son Edward, daughter Rozalind, son-in-law Richie, grandchildren Rory, Hayley and Cara, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends.

Requiescat in Pace.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Hanley will repose for Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Bailey Street, Killenaule, Thurles on Sunday morning, June 27th, at 11:00am, attended by family members only.
Interment will take place immediately afterwards in Crosscannon Cemetery, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Mr Hanley, but are unable to do so, due to current coronavirus pandemic restrictions; same can be viewed online HERE.

Tipperary Hurling Sponsor Declan Kelly Accused Of Drunken Antics At Charity Event.

According to Independent.ie, multi-millionaire PR mogul and Tipperary senior hurling sponsor Mr Declan Kelly, brother of Labour Leader and TD Mr Alan Kelly, has temporally stepped aside from some of his responsibilities as the CEO and chairperson of Teneo; latter, the strategy firm he co-founded. This follows accusations of drunkenly misbehaving at a charity event last month.

A statement made by a spokesperson for the chief executive said, Mr Kelly became inebriated and behaved inappropriately towards women and men at a cocktail party for a fundraising concert hosted by Global Citizen on May 2nd last, which was chaired by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and featured performances by Jennifer Lopez, Foo Fighters and Selena Gomez, as well as appearances from President Joe Biden and Pope Francis.

Global Citizen, headquartered in New York, with offices in Canada, South Africa, Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom, is a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030.

Tipperary-born Mr Kelly is understood to have been asked for his resignation the day after the event, and resigned his board seat at Global Citizen, latter an anti-poverty charity, chaired by Mr Chris Stadler, the managing partner of CVC Capital Partners, the majority shareholder in Teneo.

The spokesperson’s statement further confirmed that Mr Kelly regretted his actions and had apologised to those he had offended. Mr Kelly had also “temporarily reduced his work responsibilities”, was now “committed to sobriety” and was “undertaking ongoing counselling from healthcare professionals”.
