Alice PR, Wins Top Honours At PR Awards on Friday June 28th last.

‘Alice PR‘, whose Managing Director is Thurles born Martina Quinn, have been named ‘Agency of the Year‘ at the annual PR Awards on Friday June 28th last.

The annual PR Awards; officially the Awards for Excellence in Public Relations, are hosted by the PRCA and the Public Relations Institute of Ireland, and have been running now for almost 30 years.

Each year, the Institute highlight and celebrate the very best work of the Irish PR industry, undertaken over the previous 12 month period.

This year ‘Alice PR’; [with an address at No. 10 Fortescue Lane, Mountpleasant Avenue Lower, Dublin D06 X4W7], received the award for not just ‘Agency of the Year’, but also picked up an award in the ‘Best Use of Media Relations’ category – and received commendations in two further categories.

Martina Quinn, MD of ‘Alice PR’, is daughter of farmer Michael and former local Councillor & Ursuline secondary school teacher Mai Quinn, both of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Ms Quinn holds a BA in Journalism from DCU, and began her career as a journalist, covering politics, public affairs and local government. She also holds a Diploma in Digital Marketing from Irish Times Training. In a voluntary capacity, she chairs the Boards of two education organisations: ‘D8CEC’ – (Dublin 8 Community Education Centre) and ‘Show Racism the Red Card‘, and was a founding committee member of the Ranelagh Arts Festival.

Two Women Out Walking Injured In Tipperary Hit-And-Run.

Gardaí continue to appeal for information, following injuries received by two women following a hit-and-run road traffic collision, same which occurred in the townland of Tinvane, Carrick-On-Suir, Co, Tipperary last night.

About 9.00pm last night two elderly women were struck by a van, while out walking. The vehicle then careered into a ditch before coming to a halt. The driver of the vehicle then hurriedly left the scene in the direction of the Piltown Road.

The two women were later taken to Waterford Hospital by ambulance to be treated for what has been described as thankfully non life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, who possibly were in the area or motoring in the townland of Tinvane, Carrick-On-Suir, at the time of the collision or prior; that can assist them with their enquiries. They particularly are appealing to motorists with may have dash camera footage to make it available to them.

Alleged Defamation Claim Made Against Iconic Newspapers Ltd.

Mr Michael Reilly, a 62 year old civil engineer and native of Ballycullen, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co Tipperary, is suing Iconic Newspapers Ltd, which published an article on February 9th, 2016, which he claims defamed him, destroyed his professional reputation and left his family “treated like pariahs”.

A High Court jury has heard that Mr Reilly claims he was defamed when the “Kilkenny People” newspaper, owned by Iconic Newspapers Ltd, published a report on an uninsured driver, latter who was convicted in the local court, and who held the same name as himself.

Iconic Newspapers Ltd, which also includes the “Tipperary Star” publication amongst over 20 other publications; totally denies defamation; stating the published court report in question was entirely fair and accurate on the court proceedings, which also attracts legal privilege.

Frank Callanan SC, council for Mr Reilly, stated that the newspaper report published had stated that “Michael Reilly, Ballycullen, Mullinahone” had received a three-month suspended sentence at Kilkenny District Court for driving without insurance, fined €750 and was banned from driving for six years.

Mr Callanan further stated, that contrary to the published article, his client, was the only ‘Michael Reilly’ holding an address at ‘Ballycullen, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary’. Thus the article published had caused his client and his family, great distress and professional damage to their reputations.

The case continues before a jury and High Court Judge Ms Leonie Reynolds.

Death Of Dinny Dunne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It is with the deepest regret that we report the death, today Tuesday 6th July 2021, of Mr Denis (Dinny) Dunne, Lisdonowly, Moyne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary

Predeceased by his parents William and Kathleen, sister Nan (Moore), brothers Pat and Murty, niece Caitriona (Duggan) and nephew Robert (Dunne); Mr Dunne passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Unit A, Community Hospital of the Assumption, Thurles, Co Tipperary.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his sister Catherine (Sr. Assumpta, Convent of Mercy, Tipperary Town), brother Liam (Dublin), sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Dunne, will repose in Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on tomorrow evening Wednesday, July 7th, for family and close friends.
The funeral cortège bearing his body, will leave his residence on Thursday morning, July 8th at 10:45am, to be received into the Church of St. Mary, Moyne, Thurles at 11:00am to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11.30am. Interment will take place immediately afterwards in nearby St. Mary’s Cemetery, Moyne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of Sean Harrington, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It is with the deepest regret that we report the death, today Monday 5th July 2021, of Mr John (Sean) Harrington, Rossoulty, Upperchurch, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Harrington passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, while in the care of staff at Thurles Community Hospital.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his wife Betty, sons Tadhg and PJ, daughters Brid, Criona, Noelle, Norma and Lily, brother Con, sisters Teresa and Kathy, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Harrington will repose at his home in Rossoulty, Upperchurch, Thurles on tomorrow evening, Tuesday July 6th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, for family and friends.

His body will be received into the Church of St. Mary, Drombane, Thurles on Wednesday afternoon, July 7th, for Requiem Mass at 2:00pm, followed by interment immediately afterwards in Templebeg cemetery, Rosmult, Templebeg, Co. Tipperary.
