Virus Cases On Island of Ireland Today, July 25th, 2,390.

The Department of Health has confirmed 1,126 new cases of Covid-19 in the Irish Republic today. There are 123 people in hospital, up 18 on yesterday, and 22 people in ICU, an increase of 1.
Here there are now over 5.5 million vaccines administered, with 83% of the our eligible population now partially vaccinated and over 68% fully vaccinated.

In Northern Ireland, 1,264 new Covid cases have been reported, together with, sadly, 2 further deaths within the past 24 hours.

As hospitalisations slowly continue to rise in both the South and the North of our island, the total number of Covid-19 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours stands at 2,390.

The Association of Secondary Teachers, in Ireland (ASTI) has stated that it is happy that all teachers will have been offered a vaccine by the time all schools reopen. Also, depending on the size of each school, C02 monitors will also be made available with between two and 20 distributed to each primary school, and between 20 and 35 to each secondary schools, at a cost to the State of some €4 million.

Meanwhile, Europe’s medicines regulator has recommended approving the use of Moderna’s Covid vaccine to 12-17 year-olds.

Presently, all adults aged 18 and over are now eligible to register for a Covid-19 vaccine.

Death Of Very Rev. Fr. John Joseph O’Rourke,(A.P), Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with the deepest personal regret that I learned of the death, yesterday Friday 23rd July 2021, of Very Rev. Fr. John Joseph O’Rourke,(A.P), Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and late of Birdhill, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his brother Eugene; Fr. O’Rourke, passed away, while in the care of staff at ‘Acorn Lodge’ nursing home, Ballykelly, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving sisters Sr. Noreen O’Rourke of the Mercy Sisters, Ennis, Co. Clare (formerly Sisters of Mercy, Killaloe) and Margaret (Peg) Donlon of Derrymore, O’Callaghans Mills, Co. Clare, his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours, Archbishop Kieran O’ Reilly, Fr. Irwin PP, and all Priests of Cashel and Emly diocese.

Funeral Arrangements.

The funeral cortège, bearing the earthly remains of Fr. O’Rourke, will travel from Killenaule, Thurles via Ballynonty, Glengoole, and Ballysloe, to be received into the Church of the Sacred Heart Church, Gortnahoe, Thurles at 5.00pm on tomorow evening Sunday, July 25th, to repose from 5.30pm to 8:00pm.
Evening Prayer for the Office of the Dead will be recited at 8:00pm.
Requiem Mass will take place on Monday, July 26th, at 12:00 noon.
Interment will follow immediately afterwards in the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Gardaí Recovered Cocaine & Cannabis On Tipperary Waste Ground.

On Tuesday July 20th 2021, Gardaí from the Carrick on Suir and Clonmel areas responded to a report that shots had been fired on the Railway line at St. Johns, Carrick on Suir, Co. Tipperary.

Witnesses had reported seeing two men on the raiway line in possession of a firearm and that 4 shots had been discharged, using the weapon.

Gardaí later executed two search warrant issued under Section 29 of the Offences against the state act 1939, on two local addresses. During the course of these searched, a small quantity of drugs were recovered.

On Friday last, July 22nd 2021, in a follow up operation from this investigation into the unlawful discharge of a firearm in Carrick on Suir on Tuesday July 20th 2021, Garda from Carrick-On-Suir conducted a further search of wasteland adjoining the railway near St. John’s Terrace.

It was during the course of this search, assisted by Garda dog “Buddy” from the Cork Dog unit, that Gardaí recovered cocaine and cannabis with a street value of approximately €3,000, on waste ground adjacent to private houses.

One male in his late 20s has since been arrested for an offence under Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977/84 and detained in Clonmel under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The man has since been released, with a file being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Virus Cases On Island of Ireland Today, July 24th, 2,865.

The Department of Health has confirmed 1,345 new cases of Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland, with 105 people in our hospital’s; 21 of whom are in ICU’s. Total number of deaths in the Republic are recorded as at today, July 24th, sadly at 5,026.

In Northern Ireland, there are 1,520 cases confirmed positive, with, sadly, one death reported in just the past 24 hours. Same death brings the total number of coronavirus-related deaths recorded by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra) to 2,992. Here also, regional vaccination centres will stop giving first doses of Covid-19 jabs on July 31st.

Total number of confirmed cases today on the island of Ireland, stand at 2,865.

Between July 6th and July 19th, 2021, some 18 cases of the virus were confirmed in Thurles, Co. Tipperary

In the Irish Republic, as of yesterday, Friday July 23rd, 2,377,108 persons have received their second Covid-19 vaccination, while 3,119,312 persons have received their first vaccine dose.

In all, some 5,496,420 vaccines have now been administered, a remarkable achievement by medical staff, HSE officials and our current government.

Death Of Anne Dunne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It is with the deepest regret that we learned of the death, today Friday 23rd July 2021, of Mrs Anne Dunne (née Dunne), Eyremount House, Moyne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Predeceased by her husband Marty, sons Paddy and Dinny, granddaughter Elise and great-grandchildren; Mrs Dunne passed away peacefully at her family residence, while in her 98th year, surrounded by her family and the great support of her carers.

Her passing is most deeply regretted and fondly remembered by her daughters Mary (Bailey), Ena (Mason), Kathleen (Flynn), Anna (McIntyre), Eilish (Holland) and Margaret (Kelly), sons Martin, John and James, brothers Mick and Jimmy, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Dunne will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on tomorrow evening, Saturday, July 24th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
The funeral cortège bearing her remains will be received into the Church of St. Mary, Moyne Thurles, to further repose for Requiem Mass on Sunday afternoon, July 25th at 2:00pm.
Interment will take place immediately afterwards in nearby St. Mary’s graveyard, Moyne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
