Death Of Philip Maher, Clonoulty, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

It is with the deepest regret and sadness that we learned of the death, today Friday 6th August, 2021, of Mr Philip N. Maher, Clogher Hill, Clonoulty, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Denis and Alice; Mr Maher passed away peacefully while in the care of staff at the Woodlands Nursing Home, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving family, sisters Kathleen, Maura and Helen, brothers-in-law Geoffrey and Michael, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, excellent neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Maher will repose at Hayes’ Funeral Chapel Clonoulty, Cashel, Co. Tipperary on tomorrow evening Saturday, August 7th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Arriving at the nearby Church of St. John the Baptist, Clonoulty, to further repose for Requiem Mass on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm, followed by interment immediately afterwards in Ardmayle Cemetery, Castlemoyle North, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Mr Maher, but are unable to do so, due to current coronavirus pandemic restrictions; same can be viewed online HERE.

[NB: Due to Public Health Guidelines, regarding C-19 virus restrictions; those attending (limited to 50 mourners) will continue to observe strict adherence to social distancing and face covering.]

Holycross Village Bi-Weekly Market, Tomorrow Saturday August 7th.

A reminder that the bi-weekly Holycross Village Market is taking place tomorrow, Saturday August 7th, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

“Tomorrow is the first of our block of Autumn markets and we look forward to welcoming new vendors including Cathal, an entrepreneurial local student who is bringing a sporting angle with hurleys, sliotars, jerseys, shorts and much more, a must for all GAA enthusiasts.

We have many familiar faces returning with their popular products, including arts and crafts, artisan bakes, hot foods, coffees, healthy breads, free range meats, fruit and vegetables.

There will be live music and poetry to enjoy as you avail of the beautiful surroundings of the historic village of Holycross.

Following on from the outstanding success of ‘The Eco Laundry Egg’ promotion as part of the market Environmental policy, we’re delighted to raise awareness with this market’s Eco promotion “all about the kitchen sink”. These products are not only environmentally friendly, but are also financially sound solutions.

We have stewards on hand to help in any way necessary and there is ample parking behind the Abbey Church.

Death Of Rita Archdeacon, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It is with the deepest regret and sadness that we learned of the death, today Friday 6th August 2021, of Mrs Rita Archdeacon (née Maher), Banteer, Co. Cork and formerly of Littleton, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband Michael, (Gortmore House, Banteer, Co. Cork); Mrs Archdeacon passed away unexpectedly; but peacefully, while in the care of staff at Mallow General Hospital.

Her passing is most deeply regretted by her immediate family; John, Ursula (Giblin), Richard, Michael and Louis, grandchildren Jay, Kevin, Colin, Eva, Gerard, Jason, Laura, Sarah and Jack, daughters-in-law Kathleen, Eileen and Michelle, son-in-law Bob, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

The funeral cortège, bearing the earthly remains of Mrs Archdeacon will leave her home on Monday morning, August 9th, at 11:00am to be received into the Church of St. Fursey, The Square, Buttery Ct, Banteer, Mallow, Co. Cork, [P51 X221], to repose for Requiem Mass at 12:00 noon.
Interment will follow immediately afterwards in St. Fursey’s Graveyard.

Death Of Conn Harrington, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with the deepest regret that we learned of the death, Thursday 5th August 2021, of Mr Cornelius James (Conn) Harrington, late of Malahide, Co. Dublin and formerly of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Harrington sadly passed away suddenly, while at his place of residence.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his beloved wife Eilish, daughters Suzanne and Ruth, sons-in-law Alan and Declan, grandchildren Neil, Daniel and Megan, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Today: 3,216 Covid-19 Cases On Island Of Ireland.

In the Republic of Ireland there have been 1,782 new Covid-19 cases confirmed today by the Department of Health. There are 189 people in our hospitals who have tested positive for the virus, and of these, 30 are receiving care in ICU’s.

In Northern Ireland, sadly, there have been 4 further Covid-related deaths reported, together with 1,434 further new cases. There remain 226 Covid-positive patients in the norths hospitals, with 37 requiring critical care.

The Health Service Executive’s Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Colm Henry, has stated the rate of Covid-19 cases appears to be growing more slowly than first expected, however, he continues to urge caution when attending all outdoor gatherings at this stage of our vaccination programme.

A total of 10 ‘walk-in vaccination clinics’ were open around the Republic of Ireland today including the Clonmel Park Hotel, Clonmel, in south Co. Tipperary and the Abbeycourt Hotel, Nenagh, in north Co. Tipperary, for people over the age of 16 years.

Between July 20th and August 2nd (14 Day period) there have been recorded 489 newly confirmed cases in the 8 electoral areas of Co. Tipperary; shown here as follows:- Thurles 58; Cashel/Tipperary 167; Cahir 12; Roscrea/Templemore 26; Nenagh 20; Clonmel l29; Newport 52; Carraig-on-Suir 25.

In the Premier county there are two areas with rates below 100 cases per 100,000; these are named as Nenagh, Co. Tipperary (94) and Cahir, Co. Tipperary (82).

Some 90% of the population, aged over 16, have now registered to obtain a vaccine.

The online registration system for 12 to 15-year-olds is fully expected to open next Thursday, August 13th, 2021.

The positivity rate in testing centres is about 12% and but continuing to rise since the reopening of hospitality. There have been outbreaks in hotels and other different accommodation settings.

Warning:
Cases of the relatively new coronavirus variant, first discovered in Colombia in January, and known so far as VUI-21JUL-01 or B.1.621, have been detected in six regions within the UK, with most being detected in the London area. Early evidence suggests that current coronavirus jabs are less effective against this new strain of the virus, however current data is extremely limited and more research is required.
