Death Of Tom Maher, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Tuesday 23rd November, 2021, of Mr Thomas (Tom) Maher, Dublin and late of Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his sister Mary (Costigan) and the late Pat; Mr Maher passed away peacefully while in the care of staff at Beneavin Manor Nursing Home, Ballygall, Dublin 11.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving wife Sheila, sons Brendan and Finbarr, daughters-in-law Marguerite and Maria, adored grandchildren Meghan, Joseph, Laura and Rachel, sister Josie (Myles), brother Phil, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and his many friends, both in Dublin and Tipperary.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Maher will repose at Stafford’s Funeral Home, No.60 Strand Road, North Strand Dublin 3, on Friday afternoon, between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
His body will be received into the Church of St. Agatha, North William Street, Dublin 1, to further repose for for Requiem Mass at 10:00am, followed immediatly afterwards by interment in St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

[NB: Due to Public Health Guidelines, regarding C-19 virus restrictions; those attending Requiem Mass will continue to observe strict adherence to social distancing, face covering, with no hand shaking.]

Killer Covid-19 Cases Today Reach 5,824 On Irish Mainland.

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening 3,893 new cases of Covid-19 in the Irish Republic, over the past 24 hour period.

There remain 611 people with the virus in our combined hospitals, down 27 since yesterday, however of these, 132 are in ICUs, latter figure 2 more than was reported yesterday.

To date there has been a total of 5,652 deaths related to Covid-19 confirmed in Ireland, with same number including the 43 deaths notified in the past week.

A further 1,931 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Northern Ireland today, up from 1,476 on yesterday’s figures.

There are currently 386 Covid patients in northern hospitals across Northern Ireland, down 4 on yesterday, with 36 patients being treated in intensive care units (ICUs), up 3 on yesterday.

The Minister for Education Ms Norma Foley has confirmed that antigen testing in schools will come into effect from next Monday, November 29th. Guidance will be made available to schools and parents later this week.

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has said that if there is a further disimprovement in the trajectory of Covid-19, then NPHET will have to make recommendations to address those concerns.

In Northern Ireland, sadly 4 Covid-19-related deaths have also been reported today. With Hospital occupancy standing at 105%; the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in Northern Ireland since the start of this pandemic is 2,851.

The European Union health agency has called on member states to urgently introduce measures to reduce the burden of Covid-19 during December and January.

Death Of Wendy Kavanagh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Tuesday 23rd November, 2021, of Mrs Wendy Kavanagh, No.30 Sue Ryder House, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Kyle Upper, Tipperary Town, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband Christopher (Chris); Mrs Kavanagh, passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Fennor Hill Care Facility, Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny.

Her passing is most sadly missed by her cherished family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, the staff and residents of Sue Ryder House, Holycross, Thurles, extended relatives, neighbours and many life long friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Kavanagh will repose for Requiem Mass in Holycross Abbey, Thurles on tomorrow morning, Thursday, November 25th, at 10:00am, followed by private cremation.
The ashes of Mrs Kavanagh will be interred in Holycross Abbey graveyard, at a later date.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, today Wednesday 24th November 2021, of Mr John (Jackie) Purcell, No.48 Croke Gardens, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his wife Kitty, daughters Paula and Helen; the passing of Mr Purcell is most deeply regretted by his loving sons John, Michael and Eddie, daughters Mary, Jean, Kathleen, Breda and Clair, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Purcell will repose at Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Dublin Rd., Thurles, on Thursday evening, November 25th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, to be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles at 7:30pm.
Requiem Mass will be held on Friday morning, November 26th, at 11:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Tuesday 23rd November 2021, of Mrs Kathleen (Catherine) Brennan (née Ryan), Galbertstown Lower, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary; formerly of Turtulla, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband Eoin and son Neil; her passing is most sadly missed by her loving family; daughters Áine and Cáit, sons Richard and Séamus, sisters Chrissie (Dunne) and Bridie (Shanahan), brother Connie, grandchildren Kate, Elaine, Julie, Deirbhile, Sadhbh, Eoghan, Fergal and Colm, sons-in-law Jonathan and Roger, daughters-in-law Eileen, Bríd and Geraldine, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Brennan will repose in Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, on Thursday evening, November 25th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Her body will be received into the Abbey Church at Holycross, arriving on Friday morning, November 26th, at 11:00am for Requiem Mass at 11.30am.
Interment will follow immediately afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.
