Thurles Municipal District Council Continuing To Waste Money.

We raised the issue of areas of Thurles public lighting system being left burning day and night, here in the Municipal District of Thurles, back on April 24th, 2022. Read by clicking HERE.

Now some 15 weeks later, no action has been taken by councillors or local council administration staff.

Why are we actually continuing to pay the aforementioned employees and elected representatives to waste our property tax and other hard earned tax remittances?

Death Of Seamus Shortall, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, on Sunday, 1st May, 2022, of Mr Seamus Shortall, Greenford, London, and formerly of Rathmanna, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

The passing of Mr Shortall, is most deeply regretted by his sister Bridget, brother Paddy and brother-in-law Dan, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Requiescat in Pace.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Shortall will repose for Requiem Mass at the Church of Our Lady of the Visitation, Greenford, London, before being repatriated to his home town of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

His body will further repose in Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Thurles on Thursday evening next from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, followed by interment on Friday morning May at 10:30am in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Arrest Follows Discovery Of Cannabis Grow House In Tipperary.

On Saturday last, May 7th, 2022, a male aged in his 20s was arrested by officers of the Tipperary Drugs Unit, assisted by Anglesea Street, Cork City. Garda Drug Unit.
The arrest, in the Aherlow area, followed the seizure of cannabis plants from a grow house, with an estimated street value of €68,000.

The cannabis plants were discovered following the execution of a search warrant on previously identified property.

The arrested male was subsequently detained and brought before a sitting of Tipperary District Court.

A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Allergy Alert Notification Regarding Smoky BBQ Irish Pork Ribs.

The Food Safety Authority Of Ireland (FSAI) and Dunnes Stores have issued an urgent allergy alert over undeclared barley in a batch of meat.



The affected product refers to Smoky BBQ Irish Pork Ribs pack size 500g.

Product Identification: Use by: 13.05.22; Approval number: IE 538 EC.

The FSAI have stated, “The incorrect back label was applied to the implicated batch of Dunnes Stores Smoky BBQ Irish Pork Ribs. The product contains barley which is not mentioned on the label. This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten (barley).”

Death Of Mary Watters, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death today, 10th May, 2022, of Mrs Mary Watters (née O’ Keeffe), Jamestown, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her loving husband Michael, son Dennis and daughter Ann-Marie; Mrs Watters, sadly, passed away after a short illness, most bravely borne, while in the care of staff at Fenor Hill Nursing Home, Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny,

Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving daughters Maretta and Cathy; sons-in-law Edward and Darren; grandchildren: Jesse, Paige, Luc, Alex, Niall, Alan and Ciaran; sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Watters will repose at Brett’s Funeral Home, No.6 Kickhams Street, Mullinahone, Thurles on Thursday evening, May 12th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning, May 13th, at 11:30am in St. Michaels Church, Mullinahone, Thurles followed by interment immediately afterwards in St. Michaels Cemetery, Killaghy, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co Tipperary.
