Normally when Cork meet Tipperary in Thurles the honour of the game of hurling is very much at stake and to be honest there is no great love lost. However today when Cork and Tipperary met the atmosphere was very, very different.
Today, Cork man Declan Healy and Tipperary woman, the very lovely Martina Felle, were married in the magnificent splendour of the historic Cathedral of the Assumption in Thurles, Co Tipperary, home town to the bride. The couple publicly proclaimed their love for each other in front of a very large gathering of friends and family, led by chief celebrant Rev. Fr Joe Walsh, latter also a very close friend of the couple.
The beautiful voice of Marian O’Dwyer, Maid of Honour and sister of the bride, led the music for the ceremony.
Following their marriage ceremony, Declan and Martina travelled to one of the Mid-West of Ireland’s leading 3 star hotels, the Abbey Court, situated in Nenagh, Co.Tipperary, where friends and family were entertained to a lavish seven course banquet followed by music and dancing well into the early hours.
Later in the week the happy couple will travel on honeymoon to Thailand in south east Asia.

The prevailing gale force winds and torrential rain were totally ignored when Co. Limerick lovely Shirley Brosnan, (Ballingarry) and Co.Tipperary native Paul Hogan, (Horse and Jockey) proclaimed their love for each other, in front of a large gathering of friends, in the church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Ballingarry, Co Limerick.
Following their wedding ceremony the new Mr and Mrs Hogan entertained their many guests to a sumptuous reception at the celebrated Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel, situated close to the beautiful, quaint village of Adare, Co. Limerick.
The happy couple chose Cuba for their three week honeymoon destination.
The couple, who are both active in GAA and political circles, first met at a GAA function some years ago and thus began their close friendship.
Best wishes to you both for a happy and prosperous life together, from all your family and many friends in both Limerick and Tipperary.
Interesting to note that the church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Ballingarry, Co Limerick, (Shirley’s Parish Church) and the Cathedral of The Assumption, Thurles, Co Tipperary,(Paul’s Parish Cathedral) have something in common. The stained glass windows in both buildings are the work of the renowned Franz Mayer & Co of Munich, and possibly date as early as 1866. Only six Cathedral churches in the republic of Ireland can boast ownership of stained glass windows of this quality and great beauty.

When asked how did Niall propose, Collette stated:
“I was rushing out the door on a Saturday morning and asked Niall to show me directions on my laptop. This wouldn’t be unusual because I have a terrible sense of direction. I sat down at the table and looked at the route on screen. He was hunkered down beside me. It was ten to nine in the morning. Then he asked me to open a minimised document and up popped ”Will you marry me” in big bold letters. I looked down and there he was on bended knee with a ring box open. I burst into tears and he had to say ”well, will you? ” And I said ”of course”. It was weird, I can tell you, especially seeing as it was so early in the morning and I had to rush off. We went for dinner in Fallon and Byrne that night and drank lots of champagne.”
Colette’s wedding gown has been hand-made, especially for her, by the young Irish designer John McCormack. Latter, a former student of the Irish Grafton Academy of Dress Design, who won the Nokia Young Fashion Designer Award in 2005 with his capsule collection, which was inspired by the Guggenheim Museum building in Bilbao.
