This evening the Department of Health have confirmed that, sadly, there have been 12 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 3,686.
We further learn that there have been 1,024 new additional virus cases reported in the republic today. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, here in the Irish Republic, at 203,568.
Of the cases today; 380 are in Dublin, 70 in Meath, 63 in Cork, 55 in Galway, 48 in Limerick, with the remaining 408 cases located across every other county.
However, there were also 5 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours in Co. Tipperary, to midnight last night, and 350 cases within the past 14 days.
There are over 1,203 people with Covid-19 in hospital, and of that number, 178 people are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.
In Northern Ireland, sadly, 9 further people have died from Covid-19, with 334 new confirmed cases.
Total global cases up to 5.30pm this evening, are now standing at almost 106 million confirmed cases, with global deaths at well over 2.31 million.

We further learn that there have been 827 new additional virus cases reported in the republic today. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, here in the Irish Republic, at 202,548.
Of the cases today; 297 are in Dublin, 76 in Cork, 56 in Galway, 46 in Wexford, 37 in Kildare, with the remaining 315 cases located across every country.
However, there were also 14 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours in Co. Tipperary, to midnight last night, and 377 cases within the past 14 days.
There are over 1,199 people with Covid-19 in hospital, and of that number, 177 people are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.
In Northern Ireland, sadly, 7 further people have died from Covid-19, with 390 new confirmed cases.
Total global cases up to 5.30pm this evening, are now standing at well over 105.5 million confirmed cases, with global deaths at well over 2.30 million.

We further learn that there have been 1,047 new additional virus cases reported in the republic today. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, here in the Irish Republic, at 201,763.
There have been 4,458 confirmed cases to date in Tipperary since the pandemic began, based on data relevant up to midnight on Wed. Feb. 3rd last.
There are over 1,258 people with Covid-19 in hospital, and of that number, 181 people are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.
Minister for Health Mr Stephen Donnelly has confirmed that the first batches of AstraZeneca will start arriving this weekend, starting with an initial 21,600 doses. In total, there will be 190,000 doses in all, arriving in February. Most of dose two of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will have been given by the end of this month.
European Union Foreign Policy Chief Mr Josep Borrell was in Moscow for talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and has hailed the success of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, stating that he hopes it could be certified for use within the EU.
Gardaí have confirmed more than 4,500 people have been fined for breaches of Covid-19 restrictions – of which 3,500 were for non-essential travel. People travelling to airports or ports intending to take holidays abroad are now liable for a €500 fine.

This evening the Department of Health have confirmed that, sadly, there have been 75 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 3,586.
We further learn that there have been 1,318 new additional virus cases reported in the republic today. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, here in the Irish Republic, at 200,744.
There have been 4,433 confirmed cases to date in Tipperary since the pandemic began, based on data relevant up to midnight on Tue. Feb. 2nd last. In the last 24 hours to midnight last night, Feb. 3rd; 22 further cases have been reported within the borders of Tipperary, with 481 cases reported in the past 14 days.
Of today’s cases nationally; 428 cases are in Dublin, 122 in Cork, 93 in Galway, 78 in Kildare, 77 in Limerick, with the remaining 520 cases located across all other counties.
There are over 1,308 people with Covid-19 in hospital, and of that number, 188 people are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.
The Health Service Chief Executive Mr Paul Reid has stated that 219,200 Covid-19 vaccine doses to date have been administered. In all a total of 51,200 vaccinations were completed, with 44,900 administered in acute hospitals – with 1,500 people receiving a first dose and 43,400 receiving their second shot in the last week.
The Health Service Executive has stated that its advice is that people over 70 should now get the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines, rather than the AstraZeneca vaccine. We understand that the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines afford greater protection for older people, when both are compared.
Tánaiste Mr Leo Varadkar has confirmed to the Dail that this decision to not use the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine for people aged over 70, will mean the rollout of the vaccine for that age group will be delayed by a number of weeks.
Holland has become the latest European country to limit AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine to people aged under 65. This is despite the European Union agreeing same for use by all ages groups.

We further learn that there have been 1,013 new additional virus cases reported in the republic today. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, here in the Irish Republic, at 199,430.
There have been 4,393 confirmed cases to date in Tipperary since the pandemic began, based on data relevant up to midnight on Monday, Feb. 1st last.
Of today’s cases nationally; 337 cases are in Dublin, 96 are in Galway, 65 in Cork, 60 in Kildare, 48 in Louth with the remaining 407 cases located across all other counties.
There are over 1,367 people with Covid-19 in hospital, and of that number, 203 people are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.
Sadly a further 11 people with Covid-19 have died in Northern Ireland, with another 504 confirmed positive cases notified by their Department of Health.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) has stated that its advice is that people over 70 years of age, should get the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines, rather than the AstraZeneca vaccine. The AstraZeneca vaccine will now be reserved for younger people. GP’s had been expected to begin vaccinating older people this month, starting with those aged over 85 years. Meanwhile, regulators in Switzerland have stated that data submitted by AstraZeneca is not sufficient for them to authorise the use of the company’s Covid-19 product.
