Style Me Wonderful – Natasha Doyle Salon Thurles

It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35.

Recessionary times were briefly forgotten here in Thurles on Thursday night last, as customers from Boutique Salon, Parnell Street,  joined St Vincent de Paul members and volunteers, for what turned out to be a most informative and truly enjoyably gala event.

The event, which began at 7.30pm and aptly entitled “Style Me Wonderful,” was the brain child of Natasha Doyle, owner/proprietor of Boutique Salon, and her team, who are situated on Parnell Street here in Thurles, working closely with local charity members and volunteers who actively support that remarkable charity, St Vincent de Paul.

St Vincent de Paul

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) needs no introduction from me, being the largest, voluntary, charitable organisation here in Ireland. Its membership of some 10,500 volunteers throughout Ireland are supported by a professional staff, all working for social justice and the creation of a more just, caring society. This unique network of social concern also gives practical support to those experiencing poverty and social exclusion, by providing a wide range of services to people in need.

Our video captures just some of the large crowd of attendees who supported this truly entertaining social event.

Style Me Wonderful

The main attraction for the evening was a visit from Corporate & Personal Image Consultant Caroline Ryan. Caroline is a much sought after ‘Image Consultant,’ whose goal is to help people gain confidence and fulfilment by developing their own personal image.  Caroline’s passion lies not in fashion but in the art of easy, timeless style, and works closely with her clients, teaching them how to create their own unique style which matches their body shape, tastes, personality and lifestyle needs.

As well as being an experienced Style-Coach, Caroline has worked for many years as a marketing professional, specialising in the fields of business marketing, brand management, public relations, customer care and service quality.  Caroline is also an experienced radio presenter having presented and produced a variety of shows over the past four years.

Christophe Issaad (Manager “The Watermill,”) latter Thurles town’s newest & most impressive licensed hostelry, was also on hand to oversee the distribution of a magnificent array of finger foods, taking the form of Canapé and Bouchée and to pour that ever welcome glass of wine, chosen especially for the occasion by Natasha for this charity event.

Boots Pharmacy Thurles were on hand in the forms of the lovely Emma Rossitor (Assistant Manager Boots) & Martha Dempsey (Weekend Beauty Advisor Boots) both measuring skin colour and matches to perfect skin-true foundation using  the pharmacy’s new No 7 Foundation Match Made Service, to the large assembly gathered.

Hats by Carmel,” (Carmel Moore, Tel No 0504-23181) from Monaincha House, Roscrea, Co Tipperary was amongst those showing off just some of her large range of millinery, each hat & fasinator, all hand-crafted with love & made to order, just ideal & so essential for today’s Ladies Day outing at the races, that special family wedding or indeed any special occasion.

From Natasha & Team at Boutique Salon a big, big ‘Thank You,’ to all associated with this major charity Thurles event, which we hope will now be added to the calendar of annual Thurles social events.

Dundrum Tidy Towns Committee was formally established in February 2010 and is constituted as an “open,” committee with three elected officers, namely a Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary.

Since it’s formation the Committee has been ably chaired by D.J. Butler, with the support of Vera O’Dwyer as Treasurer and Kyran Colgan as Secretary. Active membership consists of approximately 10 people, with supplemental support from a further 10 associated members, from time to time as work and planning demands.

The committee has now participated in two National Tidy Towns competitions and have made considerable progress since their inception.  They scored a very creditable 269 points in the 2010 competition which placed them joint third with Newcastle in their county category, and with only Emly and Kilsheelin (Both National winners) ahead of them. With an increased effort from everyone last year, and with the benefit of a full year of planning, they managed to improve their score in the competition by a further 9 points up to 278.

The activities of the Committee have given a fantastic boost to local community spirit and village awareness. The Committee’s activities to date have been funded by modest grants, donations, and fund raising activities. However, they now need to undertake more ambitious projects, which will require a greater level of funding and support.

The village is fortunate to be home to a fine array of historic buildings and features, as well as a fantastic natural environment and high quality outdoor amenities. The Committee’s long term aim is to maintain, improve and integrate all these assets in a way which will enhance the village experience for both residents and visitors alike. They hope that this in turn will help the village develop an even stronger sense of identity and continue it’s evolution, to being both a vibrant business centre and a gateway for leisure and environmental tourism.

They hope that this forthcoming Fashion Show, to be held in Dundrum House Hotel on the 2nd. March 2012 will give them the financial foundation to embark on a number of projects already identified in the village this year.
