Veteran singer and actor Mr Dennis Waterman, best known for his appearences on stage and screen and through his TV series; “The Sweeney” (as tough cop George Carter, 1970s), “Minder” (as bodyguard Terry McCann) and “New Tricks” (as Gerry Standing), has passed away this afternoon, May 8th, 2022, at the age of 74 years.
Mr Waterman sang the theme song for “Minder”, “I Could Be So Good for You”, which was a top 3 UK hit back in 1980 and a top 10 hit in Australia. The song was written by his then wife Patricia Maynard, in collusion with Gerard Kenny in 1981.
A statement from his family today said: “We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Dennis, passed away, very peacefully, in hospital in Spain, on Sunday afternoon, with Pam by his side. The family kindly ask that our privacy is respected at this very difficult time,”
Mr Waterman was born in London in 1948 and began his acting career on the stage, starting at the Royal Shakespeare Company based in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England, at the age of 12.
However, it was “The Sweeney” that made Waterman a household name, co-starring with John Thaw; a show which ran for almost four years, before continuing on later, to make two films based on the show itself.
Mr Waterman released his first music album, ” Downwind of Angels” in 1976 and a single, “I Will Glide”, was released from that album,
His 60 year outstanding career included “Night Train for Inverness”; “William”; “Fair Exchange”, “Go Kart Go”; “Scars of Dracula”; “Fright”; “Man in the Wilderness”; “Follow the Yellow Brick Road”; “Man About the House” and “Saratoga”; to name but a few.
He undertook his final film project in 2020, latter a drama comedy entitled “Never Too Late”, made in Australia.
Mr Waterman was married and divorce, to actresses Penny Dixon, Patricia Maynard and Rula Lenska. He is survived by his fourth wife, Pam Flint and their two children.

I Hope You Dance
Singer: Lee Ann Womack. Songwriters: Sanders Mark Daniel / Sillers Tia M
[The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. But in the meanwhile ……..]
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder, Get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger, May you never take one single breath for granted, God forbid love ever leave you empty handed. I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you dance… I hope you dance…
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance, Never settle for the path of least resistance. Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they’re worth takin’. Lovin’ might be a mistake, but it’s worth makin’. Don’t let some hell bent heart leave you bitter. When you come close to sellin’ out reconsider. Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance… I hope you dance. I hope you dance… I hope you dance.
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, Dance… I hope you dance. I hope you dance… I hope you dance. I hope you dance… I hope you dance.

“Crazy, Crazy Baby” it’s the new single from the very talented vocalist Ms Molly O’Connell.
This Tipperary Country Singer began singing on stage as a 6 years old; winning her first Munster Final Fleadh at the tender age of 8 years and her first All-Ireland in Scór at the age of 14 years.
She has continued to wow audiences over the years, with her renditions of Country, Folk, Ballad and Traditional songs.
Molly hails from Kilcommon village in County Tipperary and developed her love of performing from her now sadly deceased father Denis, who played the button accordion and sang in a well-known band, “The Mellow Tones”.
The youngest daughter of a family of five siblings; music and song were an integral part of “The O’Connell Family “, and growing up in such a musical home enabled her to become familiar with all the songs performed by the greatest and most famous of all time Country Singers.
Releasing a single for the first time has always been a dream for this Tipperary Lady and we wish her well.
“Crazy, Crazy Baby”, which was written by Stephen Hamilton, a highly credited musician in the Country Music scene for many years, and now Molly has put her own personal unique stamp on this popular melody .
The song “Crazy, Crazy Baby”, is expected to be released this coming weekend, so do Click HERE to follow Molly’s progress.
Molly wishes to thank Jim Mcveigh @ Foxhollow Studios for recording & producing; Stephen Hamilton for writing & arranging the song, art work & duplication, and Barry Doyle & Patrick Ryan #paddysnaps for the photos.
