Over €100,000 In Cannabis, Cocaine & Cash Seized In Tipperary Raid

A man and a woman, both believed to be in their 20s, have been arrested by the Tipperary Garda Divisional Drug Unit and both remain currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at Thurles Garda Station.

Following the execution of a Garda search warrant, Tipperary Divisional Drug Unit, searched a property in the vicinity of Lagganstown, Golden, Co. Tipperary shortly before 10:00am this morning, as part of ‘Operation Overwatch’.

During this search, a quantity of what is suspected as being cannabis, latter with an estimated value €100,000 was seized, together with a smaller amount of cocaine, which was located in a motor vehicle, parked on the property. Also seized was €2,250 in cash together with other items of suspected drug paraphernalia.

The presumed drugs haul will now be forwarded for final clarification and analysis.

Cannabis Grow House Discovered In Roscrea, Co. Tipperary

With the latest figures from the Health Research Board showing a continuing rise in the number of people seeking help for cannabis use; we learn today, that what are suspected as being cannabis plants, worth an estimated €120,000, have been seized at a house in Co Tipperary.

The discovery was made following a fire, which began early this morning, causing extensive damage to property situated in the Rathnavogue area of Roscrea, north of the county.

When the fire was eventually extinguished, local Gardaí searching the building, discovered it had been converted into an apparent ‘grow house’ with a cultivation system, including the necessary heat lamps and fans, installed.

Meanwhile, south of the county and earlier this week Gardaí arrested four men, while seizing an estimated €1,100 worth of suspected cannabis herb, following the pursuit of a car in the Clonmel are of Co. Tipperary.

CAB Coordinates Raids In Eight Counties Including Co. Tipperary

Fifty members of the Criminal Assets Bureau, supported by the Emergency Response Unit and the Regional Support Unit from the Garda Western Region, carried out a coordinated series of searches on an organised crime gang involved in the sale and supply of drugs.

Property seized included six cars; one x 191 registered Ford Focus; two x 181 registered Ford Focus; one x 181 registered Ford Ranger; two x 161 registered Ford Focus and a ‘TuffMac’ general duty car trailer; all with an estimated combined value of some €120,000.

More than 100 Garda members were involved in some 21 searches across counties Tipperary, Longford, Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, Cavan, Roscommon and Dublin. We understand that these searches were focused on 5 residential addresses; 16 business premises, mainly car dealerships and one midland Solicitor’s office.

Cocaine valued at €25,000 was also seized and freezing orders were placed on six bank accounts which contained approximately €50,000.

Also seized were drug paraphernalia, computers, mobile phones, financial documents, fake €20 bank notes, 3 Rolex watches and a quantity of lady’s designer handbags.

A male in his 20’s has been arrested by local Gardaí under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud) Offences Act, 2001

Co. Tipperary Comes Under Attack From ‘Scam’ Telephone Callers

Since Monday last, Co. Tipperary is currently under attack from ‘Scam’ Telephone callers.

Numerous Tipperary individuals have been in receipt of telephone calls, both yesterday and today; same appearing to emanate from telephone numbers 0014934549 and 0050541810.

The callers claim to represent ‘Visa Card’ and ask “if you have used your card to purchase €600.00 of goods at 6:30am this morning”. These immediately identifiable Pakistan / Indian sounding male scum-bags, behind these calls, are insistent that they genuinely represents Visa. If you state you indeed have used your card, he immediately hangs up .

Since some of our readers do not use Visa, it was easy to ‘play along with’ the callers, once their targeted individual confirmed that they had not used their Visa Card today.

In reality these callers are attempting what are known as ‘Vocal Phishing’ or ‘Vishing’ scams, latter which we have warned all our readers about on numerous occasions in the past.

Please do keep in mind, particularly prior to Christmas, that no truly genuine financial instution or representative from any financial business organisation or indeed the staff from within the Public Service will ever call and seek personal, private, details or other data, either over the phone or by email contact.

Should you get such calls simply disconnect from your caller.

Do warn your elderly parents and friends about this current activity, as already such actions have cost, numerous people, thousands of Euro’s, latter having provided, in full, these low-life individuals with their personal privileged data.

Male Arrested In Thurles In Connection With Attack On TD Martin Kenny

A male, believed to be from the Thurles area, is currently being detained at Thurles Garda Station, under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The arrest follows investigations by Gardaí into an arson attack, last week, on the car of a democratically elected Sinn Fein representative Mr Martin Kenny, at his home in Aughavas, near Ballinamore in Co. Leitrim.

The arson attack, targeting Deputy Kenny’s motor vehicle, [a married father of four children], occurred some days after he received death threats.

These death threats followed an earlier speech given in Dáil Éireann, where the forty-eight-year old Mr Kenny, slammed fear-mongering and unnecessary hysteria, being whipped up by members of the far right movement, in relation to immigration.

A Garda statement last night stated: “Gardaí in Leitrim investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire which occurred in the Aughavas area of Co Leitrim at approximately 2.30am on 28th October 2019, have today arrested a male aged in his mid-40’s”.
