Roscrea and Moneygal Community Policing Units have recovered and seized a stash of what is believed to be cocaine.
The drug, with a potential market value of approximately €4,000, was found located in a field in Moneygal, latter a small village on the border of counties Tipperary and Offaly, yesterday.
Also seized were a scales and sachet plastic bags.
No arrests have been made as yet and investigation are continuing.
Yesterday, Gardaí seized drugs with an estimated value of over €3,600 in Roscrea, North County Tipperary.
Same searches were made as part of ‘Operation Nest’, initiated in response to a heightened level of community engagement, latter corresponding with Roscrea Gardaí’s proactive approach to Covid-19 and their liaison with the public.
During the first search Gardaí seized €2,500 of cannabis herb, a weighing scales and a small amount of cash. No arrests has been made in relation to this particular incident, however Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.
During the second search, Gardaí seized €1,000 of cocaine, €100 of suspected cannabis herb and a weighing scales.
A juvenile, aged in his mid-teens, was arrested at the scene and is due to appear in court this morning.
Two males, understood to be aged in their 20’s and 30’s, were arrested yesterday (October 21st) in connection with some 10 incidents of robbery in counties Tipperary, Clare, Cork and Limerick.
The men stand accused of burglaries at various petrol stations, post offices and shops, over the last number of months; where cash and cigarettes were stolen and safes were removed.
We understand that Gardaí have seized a motor vehicle, same believed to have been used during the course of these burglaries, which currently is being forensically examined.
The men detained are being held separately at Garda Stations in Tipperary Town and Nenagh, under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.
The arrests took place as result of an intelligence led operation coordinated across the Southern Region over the last number of weeks.
