New Area For Fly Tipping In Thurles

When Mother Nature removed her warm “overcoat of green and pleasant foliage” last winter, she revealed the fact that Fly Tippers had located a new area in which to secretly dump their domestic rubbish, here in Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Obviously, conscience of the Covid-19 virus restrictions, the criminal in question did not go past the 5 kilometre (3.1 miles) limits, to the bog lands of Templetouhy or Littleton.
No, thankfully, instead they took advantage of the dark area on the north side of the Archerstown Road, to the rear of Thurles Golf Club, (close to the bad bend), to rid themselves of their beer bottles, toys and other unwanted trash.

Hopefully, Ms Cora Morrissey (Administrative Officer Environment & Climate Action Section, Tipperary Co. Council) will now scramble her forensic investigation team, to check out the contents, or maybe the ‘Fly Tipper’ responsible, may since have obtained his trash /recycling bins and suffering pangs of conscience; could rush back to erase all evidence of this deed, most foul.

Then again “Pigs may fly” and “Hell may freeze over”.

Search Warrant Leads To Tipperary Drug Dealers Arrest

Yesterday evening shortly before 6:00pm, members of the Clonmel Drugs and Community Policing Units, assisted by Unit D Clonmel Garda Station, Co. Tipperary carried out a search under warrant in the Elm Park area of Clonmel.

Various controlled drugs including amphetamines, MDMA, alprazolam and diazepam with an estimated street value of €5,500 were recovered along with digital scales and deal bags.

A 30 year old male was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Clonmel Garda Station.

The items seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for further confirmation and analysis.

Gardaí Halt Sulky Race & Seize Horse In Tipperary

At approximately at 12:00 noon today, Clonmel Gardaí received a number of calls, regarding an illegal sulky race (harness race) observed to be in progress on the main road, between Lisronagh village, Co. Tipperary and Clonmel town, Co. Tipperary.

A number of units including Regular Gardaí and Road Garda officers attended and intercepted several sulkies accompanied by vehicles travelling in attendance.

The race was halted and a number of tickets for breach of National Public Health Guidelines (being outside the legal 5k limit) and various other traffic offences were issued.

In addition one horse, pictured above, was seized from its owner, when it was discovered to be unchipped and unlicensed.

Gardaí Continue War On Drugs In Tipperary.

Gardaí confirm that at approximately 8.30pm yesterday, February 24th, 2021, members of the Drugs, Detective Branch and Community Policing Units at Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, carried out a search under warrant at Cooleens Close, Clonmel.

During the course of this search, quantities of Ecstasy, LSD and Cannabis with an estimated street value of €1300 were recovered.

A 21 year old male was arrested at the scene and was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He has since been released pending analysis of the substances located and a file is expected to be submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

€30,000 In Cannabis & Cocaine Seized In Tipperary.

February 13th unlucky for drug dealers.

Garda Officers from the Tipperary Divisional Drugs Unit together with officers from Roscrea, Nenagh and Templemore, carried out searches of two residential areas in Roscrea on Saturday last, February 13th.

During one search, two men aged in their 20’s were arrested and €20,000 worth of cannabis herb and €3,000 worth of cocaine were seized.

The men arrested were taken to Nenagh Garda Station where, following questioning, both were charged in relation to the seizure.

During a follow-up search at yet one another residential premises, a cannabis grow-house was located.

A number of cannabis plants, estimated to be worth €9,800, were found along with other drug paraphernalia.

A 45-year-old man has since been arrested and remains in custody.
