It was with sadness that we learned of the death, on Thursday 18th September 2025, of Mrs Patricia Lee, (née Stapleton), Liverpool, UK, and formerly of Brittas, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and Cappanavile, Upperchurch, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her husband Derek, parents Patrick and Catherine Stapleton and her infant brother Matthew; the passing of Mrs Lee is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; loving sister Una, brothers Dermot and Matty, sisters-in-law Kathleen and Rita, nieces Noelette, Elaine, Marie, Patricia, Una and Antoinette, nephews Padraig, Conor, Chanel and Matthew, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Lee will be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles, (Eircode E41 A528), to repose for Requiem Mass on Sunday morning, November 2nd, at 11:00am, followed by the interment of her ashes in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, today Thursday 30th October 2025, of Mr Tom Walsh, Jessfield, Ballingarry (South Riding), Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by his loving parents William and Josephine, sister Josie, nephews Fr Colm (O’ Brien), John and David (Finnane); Mr Walsh passed away peacefully while in the care of staff of St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny City, Co. Kilkenny, surrounded by his loving family. Deeply regretted by his loving sisters Lilly (Byrne), Eleanor (Finnane), nephew Ronan, nieces Lisa and Maria, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Walsh will repose at Brett’s Funeral Home, No. 6 Kickham Street, Mullinahone, Thurles, (Eircode E41 EV78), on tomorrow afternoon, Friday October 31st from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, before being received into the Church of the Assumption, Ballingarry Upper, Thurles, (Eircode E41 X523), at 7:30pm same evening. Requiem Mass will be offered for Mr Walsh on Saturday morning, November 1st, at 11:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in the adjoining graveyard.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, today Thursday 30th October 2025, of Mr Patrick (Paddy) Ryan, (Young Jack), Woodville Terrace, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary and formerly Drombane, Thurles, Co Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by his parents Bridie and Jack, siblings Maudie, Conor, Nuala, Peggy, Sean, Mick and granddaughter Cara; Mr Ryan passed away peacefully while in the care of staff at Tír na nÓg, Cashel Residential Older Persons Services surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness, most bravely borne.
His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving wife Margaret, daughters Siobhán (Power), Nuala (Fraher), Mariam and Frankie (Fitzpatrick), sons Sean, Conor and Patrick, sons-in-law Pat, Terry, Seamus and Paul, daughters-in-law Corrina, Tracy and Nadine, grandchildren Gavin, Shane, Eoin, Zoë, David, Stephen, Ciara, Tommy, Conor Óg, Eve, Colin, Orla, Kym, Abi, Mia, Jake, Fiadh, Tadhg and Ailbhe and great grandchildren Rían and Oisín, his brothers Frank and Dinny, sister Breda (Purcell), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

His remains will be received into the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Gladstone St, Burgagery-Lands West, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, (Eircode E91 YY01) on Monday afternoon, November 3rd, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 1.00pm, followed by interment, immediately afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Moanmehill, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Ryan’s family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that he received from the staff of Tír na nÓg, Haywood Lodge and Dr Julianne Reidy and her team, Dr Mike Quirke and the staff of Gladstone Street Medical Centre and Lloyds Pharmacy, the wonderful staff of Kare Plus, Clonmel and the neighbours and friends who helped care for him at home.

A man has been arrested following the seizure of more than €8 million (116 kilos) worth of suspected cocaine in Co Laois.
The discovery was made on October 28th 2025, during a planned search of a house and surrounding lands at Kilnaseer, south-west of Ballacolla, Co. Laois, as part of an operation targeting an organised crime group based in west Dublin.
Gardaí from the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau recovered 116kg of suspected cocaine hidden in nearby woodland, together with several electronic devices.
A man in his 30s was arrested and is being detained at a Laois garda station under anti-gang legislation.
Detective Chief Superintendent Séamus Boland (Head of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau), said gardaí remain committed to targeting those who collaborate with and facilitate organised crime and to disrupting drug trafficking routes into Ireland.
Separately, and earlier this year, in February 2025, drugs said to be worth more than 14 million euro were seized in Mountmellick, in the same county, and three men were arrested following yet another successful garda operation. In last February’s seizure, approximately 182kg of cocaine and 4kg of cannabis herb was seized and in a follow-up search in west Dublin, approximately 17kg of cocaine was seized, together with 25,000 euro in cash. Then the total estimated value of the drugs seized in Laois was more than 14 million euro.
It was with sadness that we learned of the death, on Sunday 24th August 2025 of Mrs Eleanor V. Meagher, Fertiana, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Thomas F. Meagher, latter formerly Curraheenduff, Coalbrook, Ballingarry (South Riding), Co. Tipperary; Mrs Meagher, sadly, passed away at Port Jefferson Station, New York, U.S.A.
Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; loving daughter Elaine (Wood), son-in-law Thomas and Jennifer Meagher, grandchildren Matthew Wood, Sarah Wood and Sullivan Meagher, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.
