Historical Chalices Of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

If you ask Thurles [Map Ref.] people what is the oldest manufactured object in daily use in this area, they might not immediately think of the chalices located in their local Church. This may well be so, and the story behind each chalice may be interesting in itself, to lovers of local and Irish history.

Death Of Patricia O’Dwyer, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, today Thursday 23rd October 2025, of Mrs Patricia O’Dwyer (née Cunniffe), The Willows, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Horseleap, Tuam, Co. Galway.

Pre-deceased by her father Jack; Mrs O’Dwyer passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Milford Care Centre, surrounded by her family.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; loving husband John, son Ronan, mother Bridie, brother Tom, sisters Mary and Fionnuala (Mason), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, great neighbours and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mrs O’Dwyer will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, (Eircode E41 CP59) on Saturday afternoon, October 25th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, same evening.
Her remains will be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles (Eircode E41 A528) on Sunday morning, October 26th, at 10:30am to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards in Killinan Cemetery, Killinan, Nenagh Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of Louise Haughney, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Monday 20th October 2025, of Ms Louise Haughney, Woodlawn, Cashel, Co. Tipperary, and formerly of Ballybeg, Littleton, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her mother Noreen and brother Fintan; Ms Haughney passed away peacefully following a long illness.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family;loving father Tom, sisters Katrina and Úna, brothers David and Tomás, brothers-in-law Deckie and Andy, sisters-in-law Denise and Angéle, nephews Fintan Óg, Neásan, Odhrán, Aodhan and Luca, nieces Aoife and Tara, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Her remains will be received into the Church of Our Lady and St Kevin, Ballydavid, Littleton, Thurles to further repose for Requiem Mass on Thursday morning, October 23rd at 11:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in Two-Mile-Borris Cemetery, Thurles Co. Tipperary.

Death Of Ms Joan Quirke, Hollyford, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Sunday 19th October 2025, of Ms Joan Quirke, Glenmorgan, Hollyford, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her parents Jeremiah and Bridie, brothers TJ, Tom, Jim and Paddy and her sister Vera; Ms Quirke passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Ardeen Nursing Home, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; sisters-in-law Helen and Nuala, nieces Beatrice, Elaine and Fionnuala, nephews Kevin and Jerry, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Ms Quirke will repose at Whites Funeral Home, Main Street, Cappawhite, Co. Tipperary (Eircode E34 WR83) on Wednesday afternoon, October 22nd from 5:30pm until 7:00pm, before being received into the Church of St Joseph, Hollyford, Co. Tipperary same evening.
Requiem Mass will be offered for Ms Quirke on Thursday morning, October 23rd, at 11:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in the adjoining graveyard.

Death Of William Britton, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Sunday 19th October 2025, of Mr William Britton, Lismolin, Mullinahone, Tipperary

Pre-deceased by his beloved parents Pierce and Bridget, brothers Tommy and Dick, sisters Alice and Mary, daughter Orla grandchild Carla; Mr Britton passed away peacefully in the care of staff at in the Oak Ward at Waterford University Hospital, Co Waterford, surrounded by his loving family.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; wife Bridget, daughter Lorraine, sons Liam and Dick, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, sisters, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Britton will repose at St Michael’s Church Mortuary, Kickham Street, Mullinahone, (Eircode E41 EW94), on tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday October 21st, from 4:30pm until 6:30pm with removal to St Michael’s Church Altar same evening.
Requiem Mass will be offered for Mr Britton on Wednesday morning, October 22nd, at 11:30am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in St Michael’s Cemetery, Killaghy, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
