Death Of Fr Séan Carroll PP, Formerly Of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on 5th January 2025, of Fr Séan Carroll PP, formerly of Clomcleigh, Two-Mile-Borris, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

In his 68th year and pre-deceased by his parents John and Chris, his brother Michael, nephew Robert, and sister-in-law, Rose; Fr Seán passed away suddenly at the Presbytery, Pembroke Road, on Sunday, January 5th., the day prior to his second anniversary of arrival at the Church of the Most Sacred Heart, Ruislip, latter in the London Borough of Hillingdon, in West London, United Kingdom.

Fr Séan first entered the priesthood, at the former St Patrick’s Theological College, here in Thurles, before being ordained six years later, in 1988, for the Diocese of Westminster.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; brothers Paddy and William, sisters Sarah and Kathleen, sister-in-law Anne, brothers-in-law Pat and Jim, nieces, nephews, and extended family, his dearly loved parishioners, in all six parishes where he served in the Diocese of Westminster and a wide circle of great friends.

The earthly remains of Fr Séan will be received into the Roman Catholic Church of the Most Sacred Heart, 73 Pembroke Rd, Ruislip (HA4 8NN), United Kingdom, on Wednesday January 29th at 4.30 pm, with Mass at 7:00pmm with Bishop James Curry presiding.
Requiem Mass for Fr Séan will be celebrated on Thursday, January 30th, at 12:00 noon, with Cardinal Vincent Nichols presiding.
Fr Joe Ryan (Associate Pastor of Westminster and a native of Coldfields, Two Mile Borris, Thurles), will deliver the homily.
Requiem Mass will be followed by a Cremation Service at 2:30pm, at Breakspear Crematorium, Breakspear Rd, Ruislip, Middlesex (HA4 7SJ), United Kingdom.

For those persons who are unable to attend the funeral service for Fr Séan; please note that from Wednesday afternoon, concluding with Requiem Mass on Thursday, all ceremony’s will be streamed live, online, from the Sacred Heart Church HERE.

Death Of John Murphy, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Thursday 9th January 2025 of Mr John Murphy, No.5 St Mary’s Road, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his wife Evelyn, parents, brothers and sisters; Mr Murphy passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; his son P.J., daughter-in-law Alma, grandsons Brian and Niall, granddaughters Cáit and Eidín, great-grandchildren Ríain and Róisín, sister-in-law Hannah, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Murphy will repose at O’Connell’s Funeral Home, Killenaule, Thurles, (E41 HH66), tomorrow afternoon, Saturday January 11th, from 5:00pm until 6:45pm, before being received into the Church of St Mary, Bailey Street, Killenaule, Thurles at 7:00pm same evening.
Requiem Mass for Mr Murphy will be celebrated on Sunday morning, January 12th, at 11:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in Crosscannon Cemetery, Crosscannon, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, today Thursday 9th January 2025, of Mrs Kitty Ryan [Boland], (née Hayes), Knockalough, Drombane, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her parents Paddy and Mary, husband Michael and infant siblings James and Una; Mrs Ryan passed away while in the care of staff at the Community Hospital of the Assumption, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; sons PJ and Michael, daughters Martina and Sinead, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister Mary, aunt Kitty, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, Monday 6th January 2025, of Mr Thomas Brolan, Kennedy Park, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his brothers Joe, Jimmy, Jack, Paddy, Billy, Michael and Richard, sisters Kitty and Mary, parents Ann and Joseph; Mr Brolan sadly passed away unexpectedly at his place of ordinary residence, surrounded by his loving family.

His remains will be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles on Sunday morning, January 12th, at 10:30am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of May McGettigan, Formerly Of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, Monday 6th January 2025, of Mrs Mary (May) McGettigan (née Phelan), Santry, Co. Dublin and formerly of Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Joe, sisters Alice and Nellie and her brothers John, Jimmy and Francis; Mrs McGettigan passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, while in the care of staff at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, Dublin.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; daughter Úna, son Seán, son-in-law Eoin, daughter-in-law Louise, grandchildren Dean, Callum, Jack and Molly, sisters-in-law Rose and Bridie, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs McGettigan will repose at the home of her son Seán, on Wednesday evening January 8th, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

Her remains will be received into the Church of the Holy Child, Thatch Road, Whitehall, Dublin 9, (D09 HX99), on Thursday morning, January 9th, to arrive for Funeral Mass at 10:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in Dardistown Cemetery, Collinstown Cross, Old Airport Rd, Dardistown, Co. Dublin, (K67 HP26).
