It was with sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Thursday 14th August 2025, of Mr Patrick (Paddy) Quinn, The Waterworks, Knockalough, Drombane, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by his brother Michael and sister Geraldine; the passing of Mr Quinn is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving wife Catriona, daughter Sarah, son Michael, sister Margaret, brother Tommy, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Mr Quinn will repose at O’Dwyer’s Funeral Home, Cappanleigh, Upperchurch, Thurles, this afternoon, Friday August 15th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, before being received into the Church of St Mary, Drombane, Thurles, same evening.
Requiem Mass will be offered for Mr Quinn on Saturday morning, August 16th at 11:30am, followed by interment in Kilvalure Cemetery, Glebe, Drombane, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Wednesday 13th August 2025, of Mrs Noreen Coleman (née Heavey), St. Ailbe Terrace, Bohernanave, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Innisfallen Avenue, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her husband John, brother Dominic, infant brother Bernard, sisters Anne (O’Shaughnessy) and Maureen (Turvey); Mrs Coleman passed away peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family, while in the care of staff of Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.
Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; loving son Thomas, daughter Maureen (Ryan), son-in-law Pake, grandchildren Dominic and his wife Rebecca, Sarah and her husband Raj, Amber and her partner Damien and their mother Frances, Aisling and her partner Michael, great-grandchildren Tahmid, Muhammad, Abdullah, Sóley, Savannah, Kayla and Dan, sisters Patsy (Hayes), Gretta (Kennard) and Mena (Leen), nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law Bob and Frank, sister-in-law Kathleen, extensive relatives, neighbours and friends.

Her remains will be received into the Church of St. Joseph and Brigid, Bothar-na-Naomh, Thurles, on Sunday morning, August 17th, at 9:00am to further repose for Requiem Mass at 9:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in Holycross Abbey graveyard, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, on Sunday 10th August 2025, of Mr Michael Coleman, Knocklyon, Dublin and formerly of Templemore, Co. Tipperary.
Mr Coleman passed away at his place of ordinary residence.
His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving wife Helen, daughters Gillian and Fiona, sons-in-law Bill and Damian, grandchildren Ella, Isabel, Becky, Michael, Matthew and Robert, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Annual Heritage Week takes place from 16th – 24th August 2025.
All around Ireland there will be free admission to over 70 fee-paying heritage sites on Saturday next, August 16th.
The aim of Heritage Week each year is to build awareness and education about our heritage, thereby encouraging its conservation and preservation.
But perhaps one of the better happenings, involving both children and adults, is taking place here in Co. Tipperary at Cashel Library on Monday August 18th next.
Ms Maura Barrett, (Cashel Library) explains:
Firstly, Ogham is an ancient Irish alphabet primarily used for inscriptions on stone and wood, dating back to the early medieval period. It is characterized by a series of strokes or notches arranged around a central stem line. Each letter is represented by a specific number of these strokes, and the alphabet is often referred to as the “Celtic Tree Alphabet” due to its association with trees.
Experienced community artist Ms Cher Gleeson will give an engaging, hands-on workshop, exploring this early medieval Ogham alphabet, latter which was used to write the early Irish language. This workshop invites participants to translate their own names into the ancient Ogham script, connecting personally to Irish heritage through language and symbolism.
The morning workshop, 11:00am – 12:30, will be for children aged 8 years and over.
The afternoon workshop, 2:30 – 4:00pm, will be for adults.
Each participant will:
- Learn the history and meaning of the Ogham alphabet.
- Translate their name using a traditional Ogham reference.
- Create an “Ancient Name Scroll”, a parchment-style artwork aged with natural techniques, featuring their name in Ogham script.
- Shape a personal Ogham Stone from clay, inspired by standing stones and tree lore.
Participants will leave with two meaningful keepsakes and a deeper appreciation for Ireland’s rich linguistic and artistic legacy.

Pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Ellen, brothers Edmund (Ned) and John (Jackie) the passing of Mr Looby is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving wife Theresa and the Murtagh family, sister Hannah, Eileen Óg, Mary, Kathleen, Bernadette and Winnie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.
