It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Friday 23rd October 2026, of Mr John Darcy, Racecourse, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly Cuan Mhuire, Co. Galway.
Pre-deceased by his parents Paddy and Josie and sister Una; Mr Darcy passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, while in the care of staff at University Hospital, Galway.
His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; daughter Marianne and her mother Mary, brothers Jim and Pat, sister Nora, son-in-law Chris (Lane), grandsons Ailbe, Caolán and Feidhlim, sisters-in-law Maureen and Mary, nephews Paul and Bill, niece Eimear, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and friends in both Thurles and Galway.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Mr Darcy will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, (Eircode E41 CP59), on Tuesday afternoon, October 27th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, before being received into the Church of St Joseph and St Bridget, Bothar-na-Naomh, Thurles, at 7:45pm, same evening.
Requiem Mass for Mr Darcy will be offered on Wednesday morning, October 28th at 11:00am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Lognafulla, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
