Funding Boost For Thurles Youth Services As Tipperary Secures Over €63,000

Youth services in Thurles and Templemore are set to benefit from a €24,288 capital funding allocation, as part of a new nationwide investment in UBU Your Place Your Space youth services.

The Irish government has announced more than €1.6 million in capital funding to support improvements in youth services across the country. The funding will assist with minor works, the purchase of equipment and upgrades to youth facilities, with more than 500 individual projects nationally expected to benefit.

The funding comes from the Exchequer through the Department of Education and Youth’s UBU Your Place Your Space programme. UBU funding is administered locally through the Education and Training Boards, including Tipperary ETB and ultimately comes from Government revenues, which are in turn funded largely by taxes such as income tax, VAT and corporation tax.

In County Tipperary, four organisations have secured a combined allocation of €63,262.

The largest allocation in the county will go to YWI Tipperary, which has been awarded €24,288 for its youth facilities in Thurles and Templemore. The investment will support improvements to facilities serving young people in both communities.

The UBU Your Place Your Space scheme provides locally based youth services and supports for young people, including the Thurles Templemore Youth Project operated by Youth Work Ireland Tipperary.

Elsewhere in Tipperary, North Tipperary Development Company’s Roscrea Youth Service has been allocated €15,376, Foróige Nenagh Youth Project will receive €14,062, while Waterford and South Tipperary Community Youth Service in Clonmel has secured €9,534.

The funding represents a welcome investment in youth facilities across the county, with the €24,288 allocation for Thurles and Templemore providing a particular boost to services and facilities available to young people in the local area.
