Death Of Desmond & Joan McNamara, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we previously learned of the death of Desmond McNamara, Peterborough, eastern England, (on April 22nd 2021), and Joan McNamara, Perth, Western Australia, (on December 7th 2019). Both were former residents of Thomond Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and Kilmihil, west Co. Clare.

Pre-deceased by their parents Tom and Leo McNamara, their siblings Mary Olive Barry (née McNamara), Anne Gannon (née McNamara) Portlaoise, Leo Sexton (née McNamara) Cork and John McNamara Chicago; Desmond McNamara, [latter a former teacher at Arthur Mellows Village College, Cambridgeshire, England] passed away peacefully at Peterborough City Hospital, north Cambridgeshire, England, aged 84 years.
The passing of Desmond McNamara is most deeply regretted by his loving wife Virginia and son Gearoid.

Joan McNamara passed away peacefully in Perth, Western Australia, aged 87 years.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her husband James and loving children Leo, Shane, Carmel and Caroline.

Both family members are sadly missed by their brothers Fr. William, Fr. Walter, Seamus and Gearoid, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning, July 9th next, in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles at 11:00am, following which, their ashes will be laid to rest, with their beloved parents Tom and Leo, in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Desmond and Joan, but due to distance or ill health are unable to do so; same can be viewed online HERE.

[NB: Due to continuing Covid-19 virus fears; those attending will continue to observe strict adherence to social distancing, face covering, with no hand shaking.]
