Covid-19 Updates: Wed. 19th May 2021 – 503 New Virus Cases.

The Department of Health this evening has confirmed there have been 503 new additional virus cases reported here within the Irish Republic.

The Department of Health also noted that daily case numbers may change due to future data validation.

In Northern Ireland, their Department of Health has reported zero further coronavirus deaths and 107 new cases of the disease.

There are 101 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today in the Republic of Ireland, and of that number 38 are in ICU; with two people on ventilators.

The Covid-19 vaccine portal, for those aged 45 to 49 years, opened this morning. Persons aged 48 will be able to register tomorrow, with registration opening on Friday for those aged 47, on Saturday for 46 year olds and on Sunday for those aged 45 years.

People aged 45 to 49 who do not have a PPS number may also register. The vaccine programme’s computer system, which is a new system, has not been compromised in the recent cyber attack on the HSE.

The total worldwide number of virus cases identified up to 5:00pm this evening, now stands at well over 164.34 million confirmed, with global deaths at well over 3.40 million.
