Covid-19 Update: Wed. 25th Nov. 2020 – 6 Deaths – 269 New Cases


Killer Covid-19 virus cases increase in Co. Tipperary

The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 6 deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 2,033. (One confirmed case de-notified)

There are 269 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 71,187. [12 previously confirmed cases now de-notified]

Of this evening’s confirmed cases; (1462 in Co. Tipperary per RTE Location breakdown as of 23rd November); 88 are in Dublin; 42 in Cork; 25 in Limerick; 20 in Louth; 16 in Donegal; with the remaining 78 cases located across 17 other counties.

This evening there are 260 patients with coronavirus in Irish hospitals with 36 people in intensive care units, (ICU’s).

Other Covid-19 News
An Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has said the Government intends to ease restrictions for close to two weeks over the Christmas period and will only reimpose higher controls if Covid-19 rates are observed as increasing.

Sadly 7 coronavirus deaths were recorded in Northern Ireland today, four of which occurred in the past 24 hours. This brings their total death toll to 954.

The executive director of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has said it needs to know Covid-19 vaccines are safe, of high quality and importantly, effective, before granting fullapproval, but she is hopeful a positive opinion will be delivered before Christmas 2020.

Total global cases up to 5.30pm this evening, now stand at over 60 million with global deaths at well over 1.4 million.
