Covid-19 Update: Sat. 29th Aug. 2020 – Zero New Deaths – 142 New Cases

Six new Covid-19 cases in Co. Tipperary today

This evening, figures from the Department of Health confirm that there have been zero new deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,777.

However, there are 142 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 28,720.

Of the 142 new cases confirmed today; 6 are located in Co. Tipperary; 59 are in Dublin; 20 in Kildare; 14 in Donegal; 14 in Limerick; 8 in Wexford, with the remaining 21 cases spread over Carlow; Clare; Cork; Kerry; Kilkenny; Laois; Louth; Mayo; Meath and Wicklow.

Meanwhile, a second case of COVID-19 virus has been confirmed in our prisons. The case involves a man in his late 20’s who tested positive for the virus after recently returning from abroad. The man was tested for COVID-19 in Coolock Garda Station after being arrested for a number of minor offences, including criminal damage, theft and road traffic offences. The prisoner has been kept in quarantine since testing.
