Covid-19 Update: Mon. 4th May 2020 – 16 Deaths – 266 New Cases

The number of virus cases confirmed here in the Premier County still remains recorded (as at midnight on Friday, May 1st last), at 478.

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 16 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,319.

A total of 266 new cases of the coronavirus have also today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 21,772.

Meanwhile, Minister for Health Mr Simon Harris has stated that from today, the Health Service Executive has the ability to carry out 12,000 tests per day, in their efforts to battle against the Covid-19 virus pandemic, but insists the overall future situation remains “fragile”, with the next two weeks mattering a great deal with regards the HSE’s ongoing efforts.
