Thurles Irish Heart Foundation Personnel Seek Help

Heart AppealThe Irish Heart Foundation is the National Charity fighting heart disease and stroke and funded 92% by donations from the public. It is their vision that every person living in Ireland will live a long, active and healthy life, free from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease. They aim to lead the way in improving the cardiovascular health of people living in Ireland so they do not experience disability or die from preventable heart, stroke and other blood vessel diseases.

The Irish Heart Foundation provides information on heart health to the public and media. We support patients in managing heart disease and stroke and provide heart health programmes in schools and workplaces. The IHF co-ordinates the training of medics and the public in emergency lifesaving skills (CPR) and supports research, education and development in the medical profession.

The Irish Heart Foundation is an independent, national charity with a transparent, ‘one job – one salary‘ policy, with no top-ups. They adhere to the ICTR Guiding Principles for Fundraising, which requires practices similar to a Regulator. Their total income of €5.04 million, of that the State funding they received for co-funded projects, is worth €384,000. There is a total payroll including nurse, CVD prevention and Patient Support Staff of €1.84 million. The full balance remaining is spent on rolling out their many programmes that are managed by the aforementioned staff.

Ireland’s public donations are put to work through numerous channels such as; Health Promotion, Research, Resuscitation, Advocacy, Patient Support and Public Information. To avail of these services or to find out more information you can contact their helpline on 1890 432 788 or visit www.irishheart.ie

The Irish Heart Foundation personnel here in the Thurles area are currently seeking volunteers for their annual Church Gate Collections and ‘Happy Heart Appeal.’  Their annual Church Gate Collection will take place next weekend, 8th & 9th March, while the ‘Happy Heart Appeal’ will take place from Thursday 15th May until Saturday 17th May 2014.

The local committee are always on the lookout for new collectors and the communities continued support for the vital work of this charity, latter assistance which is very much appreciated.
