Global Confectionery Giant Mars Recall Chocolate

Mars Ireland and Mars Chocolate UK are voluntarily recalling certain Galaxy Smooth Milk Chocolate bars, Galaxy Minstrels, and Galaxy Counters and Teasers bars, which they admit may potentially carry Salmonella.

Following routine testing the company fear that some of their ingredient product may carry the potentially deadly bacteria and warn consumers not to eat the affected confectionery .

The products affected, listed below, all have a ‘best-before’ date of either May 6th 2018 or May 13th 2018.

The known products being recalled are listed hereunder :
(A) Galaxy Milk 200g Bar – product code AC76R, batches 719G1SLO00, 719G2SLO00, with the best before date of May 6, 2018, and batches 720A2SLO00, 720B1SLO00 with the best before date of May 13, 2018.
(B) Galaxy Milk 42g Bar – product code AN22R, batch number 719G2SLO00, with the best before date of May 6, 2018.
(C) Galaxy Milk 4x42g Multipack Bars – product code AF67D, batches 719G1SLO00 and 719G2SLO00 with the best before date of May 6, 2018.
(D) Galaxy Counters 112g Pouch – product code AW99G in Ireland, batch numbers 720B1SLO00 and 720C1SLO00 with best before dates of May 13, 2018.
(E) Galaxy Counters 78g Treat Bag – product code AW99N, batch number 719G2SLO00, with the best before date of May, 6, 2018.
(F) Galaxy Minstrels 118g Pouch (Sweet Nights In promotion) – product code BJ30K, batch number 720B1SLO00, with the best before date of May 13, 2018.
(G) Maltesters Teasers 35g Bar – product code AX46E, batches 720C1SLO00 and 720D2SLO00 in the UK and Ireland, with the best before date of May 13, 2018.

Consumers are advised not to eat any of the listed products, but to contact Mars’ Consumer Care Team on Tel: 1890 812315 or www.mars.ie/contact.

Symptoms of Salmonella poisoning include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Same develops 12 to 72 hours after infection, and the illness can lastup to 7 days. Most people recover without treatment, however diarrhoea and dehydration may be so severe that it becomes  necessary to enter hospital.

Persons who have impaired immune systems, some older adults, and infants are at highest risk.
