Gardaí at Thurles are currently investigating a road traffic accident, following which a man died last night.
The collision occurred at about 9:40pm on the N62 at Clongour, in the vicinity of the An Post sorting office situated on the southerly outskirts of Thurles.
The male, a pedestrian, is understood to be aged in his late 30’s and died, having been struck by a motor vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the incident.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was later taken to Clonmel Hospital, where a post-mortem is expected to take place.
The Clongour road remains closed at the scene to facilitate ongoing forensic collision investigations, but is expected to re-open shortly.
