News that €66,428 has been allocated today to Thurles Town Council for their Monakeeba Sports Facility at Thurles.
The local Fine Gael Deputy Noel Coonan TD said these monies will “go towards outdoor gym equipment and work on the facility’s multi-use games area.”
This funding is not a new round of the Sports Capital Programme, but rather a targeted measure for Local Authority sports facilities allocated by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. It is one of a number of local authority projects across the country being grant-aided by Fine Gael Minister of State, Mr Michael Ring.
Deputy Coonan who strongly lobbied on behalf of the facility commented: “The funding is being allocated to projects which will boost participation in sport and this is very positive and exciting news for those living in the Monakeeba locality.“
