22 new killer Covid-19 virus cases in Tipperary

The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 8 new deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,849. [Note: Of today’s deaths, five occurred in October, with two in September and one in June.]

However, there are 1,276 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 48,678.

Latest figures from the HSE confirm that the number of people hospitalised with Covid-19 has risen to 260, an increase of 11 overnight, with 30 in intensive care units.

Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 22 are in Tipperary (947 cases to date); 278 in Dublin; 149 in Cork; 108 in Meath; 107 in Galway; 80 in Wexford; with the remaining 532 located across 20 other counties.
The 14-day incidence rate of the virus per 100,000 people remains lowest in counties Tipperary (93.4), Wicklow (102.5), Carlow (115.9) and Waterford (130.8).

No decision is expected to be made before Monday next with regard to moving to Virus Level 5 here in the Irish State.

There have been 1,031 new cases of coronavirus recorded in Northern Ireland today and sadly 2 further death, taking the official toll to 610.

Total global cases this evening now stand at almost 39.5 million [39,461,816] with global deaths at over 1.1 million [1,106,454].
