Covid-19 Update: Sun. 10th May 2020 – 12 Deaths – 236 New Cases

We learn today, from the Health Service Executive (HSE), that in total five healthcare staff have sadly died from the coronavirus, while a further 3,010 medical staff are on Covid-19 related leave.

We also learn that the number of confirmed cases confirmed in Irish prisons remains remarkably low, at less than 10 cases. There were 4,209 people reported as being in prison custody here in Ireland, as at February 28th 2020.

New virus cases confirmed here in the Premier County; (as at midnight on Friday, May 8th last), have risen from 515 to 517; showing an increase of a further 2 new cases now having been verified over a 24-hour period.

The Department of Health has confirmed this afternoon that a further 12 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland over the past 24 hours. These latest figures bring the total death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,458.

A total of 236 new cases of the coronavirus have also, today, been identified, bringing the total since conception to 22,996.
