The Department of Health has confirmed that 38 more people have died overnight from the Covid-19 virus here in the Republic of Ireland. This confirmation sadly brings the overall death toll to-date, to 444.
Of these 38 deaths confirmed today, 29 were in the east of the country, 6 in the west and 3 in the south.
Here in Co. Tipperary there were 18 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed overnight, thus bringing the total number suffering from this pandemic virus, in the Premier County, to 237 cases.
A total of 1068 identified new cases of the coronavirus have also been diagnosed in the Republic. This figure includes 411 cases identified by a German testing centre; bringing the total since conception to 12,547.
Of the cases confirmed across the Republic of Ireland to date, community transmission has been identified as the cause in 52% of cases, local transmission is responsible for 42%, and 6% of cases are connected to travel abroad.
