Tragic Farm Accident In South Tipp

The Health and Safety Authority are for the second time in a matter of days, and so far this year, investigating yet another farm accident, this time in the South of Tipperary.

The accident is understood to have happened at Castlegrace, a short distance from the village of Clogheen at approx 1.30pm this afternoon.

A male, aged in his 60’s and named locally as Mr Patsy Coffey, is understood to have fallen from bales stacked on his farmland. He was pronounced dead at the scene, before his body was removed to University Hospital Waterford for a post mortem examination.

His tragic death is the second farm related accident to occur in 2018 following on from teenager Patrick McCormack death, when he fell from the back of a tractor, reported on January 22nd last, while he worked on a farm in Newtown near Nenagh in the north of the County.
