 The Office of Public Works (OPW) are offering engaged couples, who are intending to get married in a future civil ceremony, the option of ‘tying the knot’ at some of Ireland’s well known heritage sites.
This move could now mean that some of Ireland’s most beautiful and atmospheric attractions could be made available for a couple’s big day.
Minister of State Brian Hayes said the OPW wants to open up key sites like the Rock of Cashel, latter situated here in Co Tipperary to more visitors, by offering a greater variety of uses.
To this end OPW staffs are currently understood to be consulting closely with the Health Service Executive (HSE) to identify the suitability of various visitor attractions.
All approved sites will only be the venue for the official civil ceremony itself, and not for any celebrations intended later on the day.
The mention of possible costs for holding such civil ceremonies in these romantic and historical venues has not, as yet, been fully discussed, if indeed approval is ever finally agreed. However the advent of such an agreement could see many celebrities worldwide, latter undertaking Civil Marriage Ceremonies, now deciding to visit Irish atmospheric heritage sites.
The current number one request to wedding photographers by couples living in Tipperary is to be photographed with the Rock of Cashel in the background.
  
The wedding took place yesterday, under a warm, sunny August sky, of the very lovely former Clonoulty/Rossmore International Miss Macra festival Chairperson, Miss Mary Lyng, daughter of Mrs Helen and Mr Edward Lyng, Ballymore, Gouldscross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, to former International Miss Macra festival Treasurer, Mr Laurence Buckley, son of Mrs Margaret and Mr Patrick Buckley, Finnahy, Upperchurch, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
 Mary & Larry following their wedding yesterday in Clonoulty, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. The marriage ceremony took place in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Clonoulty, Thurles, Co.Tipperary, with the ceremony jointly conducted by Rev. Fr. James O’Donnell and Rev. Fr. Joseph Walshe, both close friends of the Bride and Groom.
Escorted down the aisle by her father Edward, the bride looked stunningly beautiful wearing an off the shoulder bespoke lace afternoon wedding gown, highlighted by an accompanying delicate all lace jacket and full length train. Equally beautiful were her two accompanying bridesmaids, her sister Miss Anne Marie Lyng and her close friend Miss Angela O’Dwyer, who both wore full-length, “Sophia Tolli,” teal coloured (deep bluish green) evening gowns with cross pleated bodices. Also adding to the splendour of this occasion were Flower Girls, Caoimhe and Moira Ryan, Clíodhna Maxwell and Pageboys Tadhg and Diarmuid Ryan.
The Groom Laurence, together with his best man, Séamus Farrell and groomsman, Shane Tynan, all looked dashing in dark evening suits, elegantly highlighted by white Oxford Plain shirts with cream waistcoats and white and teal matching coloured silk cravats.
The couple proclaimed their devout love for each other in front of a large gathering of over 230 family members and close friends, with music provided for the ceremony by Pianist Miss Fiona O’Connor and vocals by former County Tipperary International Rose of Tralee contestant, Miss Noirin Ryan and her sister Miss Aoife Ryan.
Scripture readings were undertaken by Mr Thomas Lyng twin brother of the bride and Mrs Mairead Maxwell sister of the groom, while prayers of the faithful were read by Angela Buckley, Kaye Duffy, Derek Ryan, Kate Maher, Seamus Ryan and Niamh Ahern. The Offertory Procession of bread & wine was carried to the alter by Mrs Helen Lyng and Mrs Margaret Buckley, latter mothers of the newly married couple.
The customary wedding day Communion Reflection was recited by Mrs Claire Ryan, Primary School Principal and sister of the groom, with a video recording of the full day’s events undertaken by top videographers, Mr Paidraig Nolan and Mr Declan O’Sullivan (Jr.) employees of Star Systems Ltd.
Following a very beautiful and relaxed ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs Buckley retired to the ever popular local wedding venue, Dundrum House Hotel & Golf Resort, Dundrum, Thurles, Co Tipperary, where guests were entertained to a Champagne and Wine reception, together with other light refreshments.
Following family photographs in the beautiful manicured woodlands & gardens surrounding this luxurious hotel complex, the newly married couple joined their guests in the hotels main Ballroom for dinner, which was followed by dancing late into the evening.
The couple have chosen Las Vegas, in the U.S. state of Nevada and Cancún in south eastern Mexico, as their favoured honeymoon destination.

 The wedding took place yesterday of the very lovely Miss Brigid Leahy, daughter of Mrs Josephine and Mr Jimmy Leahy, to Mr Daniel Dunne, son of Mr Sean O’Sullivan and the Late Ms Virginia Dunne. Their marriage took place in the 18th century Church of St. Kieran, Johnstown, Co Kilkenny, with the ceremony conducted by the parish priest and close family friend, Rev Fr. Francis Maher.
Escorted down the aisle by her father Jimmy, the bride looked stunningly beautiful in a full length A-line afternoon wedding gown with Sweetheart Design lace bodice, decorated in minute beaded flower detail.
Equally beautiful were her Matron of Honour, Jane Landers and her three accompanying Bridesmaids; Louise Stapleton, Rosemary Bowe and Kaylyn Stapleton, latter who all wore full length Egg Plant Chiffon Aubergine gowns, highlighted by vintage jewelled accessories.
The Groom Daniel and his Best Man, Mr Seamus Stapleton, together with Groomsmen, Mr John Dunne and Mr Jamie Dunne all looked dashing in black morning suits, with white Wing Collared Shirts, silver and white waistcoats, elegantly highlighted by magenta and white Cravats. Also adding to the splendour of this occasion were Flower Girl Miss Aimee Dunne and Page Boy Master Daniel Stapleton.
The couple proclaimed their love for each other in front of over two hundred family members and close friends. Passages from Scripture were read by Eva Maria Dunne and Ciara Conroy, while Prayers of the Faithful were read by David Whiteford, Joshua Whiteford, Kathleen Doyle, Tina Dunne, Christopher Leahy and Keith Landers. Offertory gifts of Bread & Wine were carried by Josephine Leahy and Bridie Dunne, while James Stapleton recited the customary Communion Reflection.
Following the marriage ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs Dunne retired to the beautiful gardens of the Leahy family home, for family photographs and refreshments, before going on to the Castle Arms Hotel, located in the beautiful Georgian village square of Durrow, County Laois, here in the Irish midlands.
Here guests were met by General Manager Mr Joseph Murphy, before being entertained to a Champagne reception, together with a host of other light refreshments. The newly married couple later joined their guests in the venues main Banqueting Suite for dinner, which was immediately followed by dancing very late into the evening.

In bright sunshine with temperatures reaching 28°C, the wedding took place today of the very lovely Miss Noreen Dwan, daughter of Mrs Margaret & Mr Rody Dwan, Holycross, Co Tipperary, to Mr James Fitzpatrick, son of Mrs Elizabeth & Mr Jim Fitzpatrick, Holycross, Co.Tipperary.
Their ceremony took place in the beautiful setting of Holycross Abbey (a wedding venue favoured by celebrities including Dolores O’Riordan, lead singer of the Cranberries, and Colette Fitzpatrick, TV3 News Anchor) with the ceremony conducted by close family friend, Rev Fr. Tomas Breen, Parish Priest at the Abbey.
 Newly Weds Noreen & James Fitzpatrick Escorted down the aisle by her brother Thomas, the bride looked stunningly beautiful in a full length white lace strapless afternoon wedding gown, with sweetheart neckline and lace veil. A delicately embellished diamonte waist band with bouquet to match, designed by the bride herself, greatly added to her elegant ensemble.
The Groom, James, looked dashing in a grey suit, with wing collared shirt, elegantly highlighted by a white cravat. Also adding to the splendour of this occasion was Flower Girl Miss Aoife Fitzpatrick.
The couple proclaimed their love for each other in front of family members and close friends, with a video recording of the event undertaken by top videographer Mr Pat Corbett.
Music and vocals were performed by Mr John Hosey, with passages from scripture read by Evelyn Dwan & Kevin Fitzpatrick, while Prayers of the Faithful were read by Lucy O’Meara, Michelle Ryan, Gary Dwan, Jamie Lee Dwan, Roisín Dwan and Jessica Fitzpatrick.

Following family photographs in the magnificent hotel gardens, the newly married couple joined their guests in the venue’s main Drawing Room for dinner, which was immediately followed by dancing very late into the evening.

 The wedding of Ireland & West Brom soccer star Shane Patrick Long took place yesterday to former model Kayleah Adams. The ceremony took place at the beautiful Gothic style, 280 seater Church of St Mary in Enniskerry, latter formally part of the Powerscourt estate in County Wicklow.
Shane, from Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co Tipperary originally met his new bride when she was a teenager and he was playing for her home town of Reading, in Berkshire, England.
Hundreds of well-wishers gathered in the picturesque Wicklow village of Enniskerry, to cheer on & support both bride & groom on their special day.
Three bridesmaids were first to arrive, dressed in simple yet highly attractive knee length ivory dresses, together with two flower girls and one page boy.
The beautiful bride Kayleah arrived attired in a traditional A line styled, white lace, backless, figure-hugging ‘afternoon,’ wedding gown, while Shane looked dashing in a traditional morning suit, white shirt and cream tie.
The bride posed readily for photographs with her Dad and Bridesmaids, under a magnificent erected arch of white roses, prior to entering the church. Following the ceremony, the beaming couple emerged into brilliant sunshine, again posing for photographs, before travelling the short distance to the nearby lavish, 200 bed, five star Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt Hotel, (Ritz-Carlton won the Bronze Award for The Best Overseas Hotel in 2012.) where invited family and close friends, which included Kevin Doyle, Shephen Hunt and Paul McShane, were later entertained to dinner.
The West Brom & much loved Tipperary Soccer Star, together with new wife Kayleah, are expected to return from honeymoon shortly, to their present home in Sutton Coldfield.
