Alzheimer’s Tea Day – Thurles – May 5th, 2016

Thurles Rotary Club are proud to support the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland’s Tea Day.

Alzheimer’s Tea Day will take place on Thursday, May 5th in Bookworm Bookshop, (latter premises situated at No.1 Parnell Street, here in Thurles) from 10:00am.  All donations to this event will be gratefully accepted on the day, e.g. Cakes, Buns, Tarts and of course financial contributions, regardless how small.

Alzheimer’s disease, together with other types of dementia, affect over 1,900 people here in County Tipperary and people with dementia and their families need our strong support. The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland is the national leader in understanding and providing for dementia-specific supports and services.

So please do drop into the Bookworm Bookshop on May 5th, they look forward to drinking tea with you and having a chat.

Thurles Rotary Club – Events St. Stephen’s Day 2015

Are you wondering what to do with yourself on this upcoming St Stephens day 2015 in Thurles? Well to use that well known Christmas biblical phrase from St. Luke 2:10-11 “Fear not: for, behold, we bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”

Thurles Rotary Club, latter originally founded in 1988, have again this year put together an organising team to work on a special Christmas project, thus assisting three worthy local charity organisations with future funding.

President of Thurles Rotary Club, Mr Michael Wright has confirmed that the club will now endeavour to lend a helping-hand to: ‘The Sean Doran Thurles Fund’, ‘Thurles Guide Dogs for the Blind’ and ‘Mo Chara Animal Rescue’.

“In these difficult times, funding for the above named organisations are particularly low”, stated Mr Wright, “Thurles Rotary Club are now determined to support same from the funding raised at this years Rotary Christmas Challenge (detailed hereunder), taking place on St Stephen’s day 2015 at the Thurles Crokes AC Club House at Nenagh Road, Thurles.”

Run – Walk – Cycle and above all  Support Thurles Rotary Christmas Challenge

December 26th 2015 will now see three events taking place at the Thurles Crokes AC Club House, Racecourse (Nenagh) Road, Thurles and which are highlighted as follows:-

NOTE FIRST: Registration for the following events will begin sharp at 10.00 am.

(1) Starting at 11.00am:- A 55k Cycle Event.
(2) Starting at 11.30am:- A 6k Walk.
(3) Starting at 11.30am:- A 6k Fun Run.

Prizes will include:-  €70.00 for 1st Men & Women; €40.00 for 2nd Men & Women and €25.00 for 3rd Men & Women. Please note also that Thurles Crokes AC have kindly offered their facilities to assist those taking part to; Park Vehicles, Change Clothing and Take a Shower.

After this event a separate Prize Draw will take place in the Clubhouse, where entertainment will also be provided for a period of time.
Note: Thurles Knights of Malta and Thurles Gardaí are also assisting, where needed, at all four events, in the interests of Health & Safety.

Please if at all possible, do attend and support this event. Entry to Fun Run/Walk costs €10.00, with Cycles costing €20.00 or whatever donation you can afford to give. Cheques can be made payable to Thurles Rotary Local Charities.

Thurles Rotary Club Continue Support Of Local Charities

The fund-raising events, which took place from Thurles Rugby Club, involved a 55k Cycle Event, a Family Fun Cycle, a 10k Walk and 10k Road Race. For this event Thurles Rugby Club provided access to the full resources of their Clubhouse, thus assisting with the parking of vehicles together with shower and changing facilities for all those taking part.

In presenting the cheque Thurles Knights of Malta, Thurles Rugby Club and Thurles Gardaí were warmly thanked by the club membership for their great assistance in making this event such an outstanding success.

Join Thurles Rotary Club Events On St Stephens day 2014

“A moment on the lips, forever on the hips.”

Are you wondering what to do with yourself on this upcoming St Stephens day?  Worried that the hunger hormone Ghrelin; produced by our bodies when it feeling peckish, has forced  your brain into ‘making a total pig of yourself,’ as you sought out those delicious tempting high-calorie food stuffs, coming up to and including Christmas day?

Dieters please do not throw in the towel just yet; perhaps Thurles Rotary Club can assist you in removing those existing pangs of lingering guilt being experienced; read on.

President of Thurles Rotary Club, Ms Evelyn Nevin has confirmed that the club will now assist in a project to lend a hand to two local animal organisations, namely ‘Guide Dogs for the Blind’ and ‘Mo Chara Animal Rescue.’

In these difficult times, funding for these organisations has dwindled and Thurles Rotary Club are now determined to support with the funding of upcoming events taking place on St Stephens day 2014.

Run – Walk – Cycle and above all – Support

December 26th 2014 will now see four events taking place at Thurles Rugby Club and which are as follows:-

(2)  This will be followed quickly by a ‘Family Fun Cycle’.
(3)  Starting at 11.30am:- A 10k Walk.
(4)  Starting at 11.45am:- A 10k Road Race.

Please note that Thurles Rugby Club has kindly offered their facilities to assist those taking part; to Park Vehicles, Change Clothing and Take a Shower.
