“Up, Up and Away!” – Free Kite Workshop

Ms Suzanne Brosnan (Senior Library Assistant), Tipperary County Council Library Service, reports:-

“Up, Up and Away!”

The “Up, Up and Away!” Kite Workshop will takes place on Friday next, November 15th in Thurles library, beginning sharp at 3.15pm.

Do come along and learn all about the science of flight and learn to design your own kite.

Note: This workshop is FREE and is suitable for all children aged between 7-12 years of age.

Remember: Ask Mum or Dad to reserve a place for you with Thurles Library, simply by Telephoning 0761-06-6131.

The Up, Up and Away Kite Workshop is presented by Tipperary Festival of Science.

“Just another few events for children here in Thurles library! Trying to keep everybody busy this month!

Saturday 12th October:

A “Dress The Scarecrow” workshop will be held at Thurles library. Note: Scarecrows are being provided, so do bring along some old clothes to dress your scarecrow. This event is suitable for primary school children aged 8 – 12yrs.

A prize will be given on the day for the best dressed scarecrow. Event bookable via Telephone No. 0761-06-6131.

Thursday 31st October:

It’s getting close to that time of year again – Halloween! Please do join us in Thurles library, for a day full of Halloween fun starting with our “Toddler Story-time” at 11:00am.

Tony Baloney will cause “Magic Mayhem” from 2:30pm with his magic show! So don’t miss a trick, do book your child’s name in before the spaces disappear! Telephone No. 0761-06-6131

Finally we will host a “Halloween Story Time” for children over 6yrs, from 3:45pm. Come listen to some great stories like “Room On A Broom”, “The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything”, followed by an oppertunity to “dance – dance – dance” to some great music, to complete this upcoming very busy day with the staff of Thurles library.”

Dementia Awareness Evening Thurles Library

Dementia Awareness Evening – Thurles Library – Tuesday Evening October 15th – Time 6:00pm.

Ms Suzanne Brosnan (Senior Library Assistant), Tipperary County Council Library Service, reports:-

“A Dementia Awareness Evening will take place in Thurles Library, Cathedral Street, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, on Tuesday 15th October at 6:00pm sharp.

Guest speakers on the night will include Ms Amy Murphy (Dementia Advisor with the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland) and Ms Kathy Ryan (Chairperson of the Dementia Ireland Working Group).”

Thurles Library Summer Stars Medal Presentation

Thurles Library Summer Stars Reading Challenge 2019 Draws To A Close.

Ms Suzanne Brosnan (Senior Library Assistant), Tipperary County Council Library Service, reports:-

The Summer Stars Reading Challenge has drawn to a close for 2019 in Thurles Library. Please return your reading cards to the library staff to be included in the medal presentation. This year the presentation will take place on Saturday 14th September at 2:30pm.

**Horgan Magic comes to Thurles Library**

Magic Show
On the same afternoon (Saturday 14th September) we will also host a magic show from 3:00pm with magician Graham Horgan!

All children who have returned cards will receive a reminder text before this event.

Summer Stars Reading Challenge

“Summer Stars Reading Challenge comes to an end this coming weekend. Don’t forget to return your reading card to the library, to be included in our presentation afternoon.

Please ensure to include your full name, address and phone number in the spaces provided. The library will text the date and time of the presentation, when all cards are returned.”

Juvenile Book Clubs

Note: Juvenile book clubs will resume again following the Summer break in Thurles Library. Scheduled dates are as follows:-

For 7-9 years, the first meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 11th from 4:00pm to 4:30pm.
For 10 -12 years, their book club will take place on Wednesday September 18th from 4:00-4:30pm.
